Basically the question is... when choosing your weapons, do you prefer higher accuracy (aka projectile speed), or higher damage output (damage per second)?
Sadly enough, my junker class 9 barragers do higher DPS than the gallic civvy lasers I've recently switched to. However, the barragers are only 600m/s speed, while the lasers are 750m/s, meaning more hits. The lasers do about 200 less damage per second than the barragers do. Alternatively, I could go with gallic civilian plasma cannons, which have 650m/s speed (very ridiculous that plasmas have higher speed than barragers), do less damage per second by about 600, but do more burst damage.
Additionally, my Collector has three class 10 gun hardpoints and two class 5 turret hardpoints that fire forward. Right now, they're all using gallic lasers, but is it cost effective and combat effective to swap out one or two guns for missiles?
Here's some loadouts that I have tried and found good IMO:
4 CLAYMORE and 2 Grand Culverins
4 ARCHANGEL and 2 Firestalker
6 Musketoons
6 Black Widows
Basically, if you are going codenames, make sure you can aim well. Otherwise, Fast class nines like Musketoons and Hornviper MkIIs are really hard to dodge. Also, to mu knowledge there are NO CLASS 5 TURRETS except maybe the Firekiss one if it exists that sync well with codenames (turrets have faster MS than the codenames).
I use four codes on my bomber, a SN, a MR and a TCD. I drop some cargo, and practice at aiming at all kinds of angles, npcs are useful target practice as well.
Train a lot, try to SN a nanobot or a battery. Or a LPI patriot npc.
If you train long enough, you will be able to SN light fighters easally.
Just for the coolness - I switched the turrets on my Shire to all Level 5 Purple Goddess ones. That looks VERY wild watching 12 of them just shooting nearly continuous streams of fire out at the target.
If you want a good gun, go for one of the ones added in .85. Except for the gallic civilian one (I think), they're basically all much better than the average guns that were around beforehand.
