Alicia Hart moved stealthily, her father had to be around somewhere. She turned a corner and there he was, in some kind of torture chamber.
"Father!" shouted Alicia as she ran to him. But there was no response. "What happened..." she said, as a BMM security patrol ran in with large guns.
"Alicia, it's a trap. It's you they're after, not me," was all her father could say.
"Miss Hart, we believe you have a dormant Nomad brain. The Zoners have given us the means to activate it," said the security guard. Alicia knew that something was wrong, but barely had time to think about anything else as a stun baton went into her chest.
A few hours later, Alicia awoke. But it was not Alicia. Not fully, at least. She just knew that that Nomad had been 'activated'.
"I don't blame you." Alicia got up. She walked to the landing pad without incident. Something strange was happening. Taking off, she made sure it wasn't just a dream.
FREEPORT 4, MAGELLAN
Alicia had gathered all of her old friends here. It was a very sad occasion and not many of her friends would agree with the decision. But then, she thought, hatred is the price of freedom.
"So, I guess you're all wondering about why I'm talking to you all. Well, it's because I've made a very difficult, but understandable to some of you, decision. Yes, my father is dead. But, I'm sure he will live on in the memories of everyone here at Freeport 4. Now, this is the last time any of you are going to see me as a human," Alicia began. An odd silence rushed over the bar. Her best friend Mary started to speak.
"Don't tell me you're joining those blue space squids," said Mary, rolling her eyes.
"Yes," continued Alicia, "I am shaking off the burden of humanity and becoming a Nomad," The entire room gasped. "A lot of you may not understand why or even how I can be one of them. But, it is possible. There is actually a Nomad inside me who can turn me into one of their Nomad fighter morphs. I am doing it to try and make peace between the Nomads and humans. I have always felt tied down by my own humanity, and I hope that you will understand," she finished. As the crowd dispersed, an old woman who looked like a Bounty Hunter came up to Alicia.
"Who are you?" said Alicia.
"You only met me once before, but I think you still know me very well," the old woman said.
"Mother..."
'That's right, dear. I'll see you in the stars." And then the old woman left, leaving Alicia to herself.
