I'd been fighting with getting Disco to work for awhile, and finally decided to try uninstalling AVG as was suggested (ideally, I would've liked to keep it running, cause y'know.. it's my antivirus) and it began working immediately after a restart. Have you tried actually uninstalling Comodo?
I'm running Vista Business SP1 x64, and I added the entire Freelancer and FLMM directory as an exception to everything I could. Interestingly enough I didn't have to disable IPv6 on my connection manager.
Ill get right on it, expect an edit in a matter of minutes to tell you how it goes.
EDIT 1: Well 1st uninstall didn't work, just stopped me from being able to connect to the internet, but I've reinstalled it and think I've worked this whole thing out.
Comodo allows you to rout your DNS or IP or something through their servers for added protection, so malware can't find you as easy I guess. Anyways, when I uninstalled it, I still had my thing (Dunno exactly what it is DNS or IP something) routed through their servers, which is why I couldn't connect to the internet, cos my mobile broadband doesn't like it. So I'm going to uninstall it again, but turn of the DNS IP thingy. Mabey that's what the problem was with Freelancer.
EDIT 2: WOOHOO! It works! Now to reinstall it WITHOUT the DNS/IP rerouty thingy. (Cos there's no way I'm staying without a firewall for any length of time) but if it stops working again, at least I no it CAN work.
MASSIVE KUDOS TO Bicko
Thank you very very very very very muchly.
I am in your debt.
Incidentally, I've been having a similar problem as well. The server list shows up fine, and I can even connect to a few, but the main Disco one has been giving me the same message as the OP. I'm running XP still, and I have the firewall set up with an exception for Freelancer. Likewise, I have my anti-virus disabled as well whenever I play.
Maybe some day, they'll see a hero is just a man who knowshe's free.
I've been looking for a new firewall that works with freelancer, but it appears that no matter what firewall you have (Don't know with XP, but definitely with Vista) even with Freelancer added as an exception, it will block the connection(s). I've found that having all firewalls uninstalled works. (Though I've left Windows firewall on and it works fine)
Running Windows XP with Windows Firewall disabled and Antivirus uninstalled completely. No dice. I'll try again using some of the suggestions here to see if it works.
From the page: "For anyone who was following this thread, it appears to be an issue with a Microsoft networking filter. In Vista, they changed this filter in such a way that prevents Freelancer from connecting whenever you use an Antivirus that employs this filter layer."
