First of all, I want to say I dont fly the bomber.

I have both fought it and fought side by side to it, and I felt sorry for the guys flying it. That thing is huge and slow. Bombers are supposed to die to fighters, of course, but compared to Falcata, bomber that is used by Outcasts, which the IMG and CR fight quite often, the Pytho looks ridiculously underpowered.

Some basic stats

Pytho

Gun/Turret Mounts: 2/2
Armor: 19200
Cargo Space: 100
Max Batteries/NanoBots: 92/92
Optimal Weapon Class: 9
Max. Weapon Class: 10
Additional Equipment: M, CM, 2xCD/T

Falcata

Gun/Turrets Mounts: 4/2
Armor: 19800
Cargo Space: 90
Max Batteries/NanoBots: 95/95
Optimal Weapon Class: 9
Max. Weapon Class: 10
Additional Equipment: M, CM, 2xCD/T

Do you see the difference?

Falcata is faster, lighter, smaller, yet it still has a bit more armour. Pytho is wide, very easy to hit with anything, especially from above/down.

I would like the people who fly it to voice their opinions here. I have already heard some people saying that they just hate it. I dont fly it, but compared to other bombers, Pytho can be killed VERY easily.

I fly it a lot, yes.
I don't necessarily find it a bad ship, really, I like it. It does it's intended job, anti-cap, pretty well. Not the best, but it's good.
As for the comparison to the Falcata, well yes, it's clumsier, bigger, slower, and weaker than it, and perhaps would deserve some kind of armor buff.

But I don't l claim to know much about that, despite flying the Falcata as well and noticing the difference, mostly because I am not a dev, and well, they'll just come here and throw some numbers that will make things make more sense or something.

(Oh also, the Falcie has all level 10 slots, unlike the Pytho which is 2 turrets and 2 class 10's.)

Just note that I am not asking to have the Falcata nerfed, or that I am not implying that it's in any way an unbalanced ship. There are better bombers than it.

The pytho does its job. It is an anti-cap vessel. It is not designed to fight fighters. We have fighters for that. The falcata is rather balanced to it in my opinion. It is just that the Pytho is a lot more focussed to its role as an anti-cap vessel.

Thats true, it is meant to be anti-cap as any other bomber.

But, with its armour and size, it dies to escorts too fast to do its job. Well, its your bomber *shrughs* I have heard its bad, very bad, and even worse, but seems everyone doesnt share that opinion.

If you think its okay, leave it as it is then. (makes my OC's job easier anyway:P)

And here's the handling for both bombers straight from DataStorm.
As you can see, Falcata handles slightly better.

Pytho

Mass: 250
Steering: 85000 85000 85500
Angular: 84000 85000 82000
Rotation: 20000 20000 20000
Nudge-Force: 30000
Strafe-Force/-Powerusage: 20000/2

Falcata

Mass: 200
Steering: 82000 82000 85000
Angular: 80000 80000 80000
Rotation: 20000 20000 20000
Nudge-Force: 30000
Strafe-Force/-Powerusage: 20000/2

I have DS too, but Im not sure what all the numbers mean, so I wasnt posting it here.

But I dont need numbers to see it handles better. I can see it ingame. But the Falcata is supposed to be a light bomber, and has smaller powerplant. The fact it has more armor than the heavy Pytho doesnt make sense at all.

Who ever said all bombers had to be 100% balanced? There will always be a better and worse ship. Guess the IMG drew a short straw, they call that diversity -- the alternative is we give every single ship of each class the same stats and hitbox, then we can all enjoy our tasteless gruel and stop complaining.

Yeah, right.

No , we did:P

But I think you shouldnt compare them with just the basic stats. Whats the turn speed? Whats the powerplant ? If the Pytho has less guns and is bigger there must be some tradeoff dont you think ?

oh wow, i have never actually noticed the handling stats in DS
(lol "nudge force" im looking at that before i by anything next time)

imo, pytho looks much better, always hated how the falcata is a bit too smooth looking to fit the borderworlds ship line, and if i had a pytho to my name, i'd be happily gunned down to a falcata knowing my ship looked better before it blew up:)
but each to their own
