I've been seeding that torrent for a while now, but A&L's torrent tracker seems to go down sometimes so it's not incredibly reliable. I've also managed to lose my copy of the .torrent, so I can't mirror it, sorry. -.-
Ok i have done everything in instructions now about 10 times. A year ago i installed np. Now when ever i launch it just hangs, and i get freelancer not responding.
I am using windows 7 and have been for over a year. Has something changed that may be causing these issues?
Note: This is only about installing a pure and simple Freelancer version, without any mods
Quote:Step 3: Installation on Vista/Windows 7/XP/2000
*snip*
Windows System: Windows 7.
First i tried to install Freelancer like i always did C:\Spiele\Freelancer, however this resulted in:
Intros->Splash Screen->Crash to Desktop.
After this, i did the deinstallation via system control (dunno if it's that in English, Leo.org says so)
Then i did the very same, only this time via "Run as Admin".
Intros? Check.
Splash Screen? Check.
Crash to Desktop? Check.
Uninstall? Check.
After this, i tried the installation instruction by cannon for Freelancer in the first post of this topic,
C:\Benutzer\*snipname*\Desktop\Freelancer
Intros? Check.
Splash Screen? Check.
Crash to Desktop? Check.
I have tried it with both a German and an English version of Freelancer, both gave the same results.
Installing Discovery 4.86 on these crashy versions naturally resulted in crashes as well.
Before anyone asks, i do not have Norton, but F-Secure Internet Security 2011.
There have been no notifications of said program about any program wanting to change anything.
I have/had no other tools for Freelancer installed (Mod Manager/Account Manager etc).
Halp?:(
In a brilliant tactical movement, i charged backwards.
Try posting in the Discovery RP 24/7 Tutorials & Support forum instead - as you can see, bumping a two years old thread about how to install 4.85 won't yield many answers. The installation procedures for 4.85 and 4.86 are vastly different.
Have you tried something as simple as letting 4.86 install in it's default location of \Users\yourusername\Appdata\Local?
