Gun Commander Bryns

[Qunitinius~Verginix]

The corsair Titan blew apart, strcuk dead on by a torpedoe fired from the Semeter. The Brentonian Gunboat spun around to engange the remaining fighters. The captain of the vessel, Gun Commander Bryns stood in the Circular Command Dias. "Weapons Officer, bring the cannons back online and target the Ace"

"Acknowlegded, Captain. Guns will be charged and ready for operation shortly"

"Good, Get the Engineers to get another AF Torp loaded."

A Titan flew past the window of the bridge, dropping a mine. The smaller chain guns opened fire and the mine was destroyed, as well, the pirates left engine was damaged. A light on the Command Consol blicked on. The tetilary guns were online.

"Fire away!" The Gunboat rumbled with every shot, the large lasers cutting through the corsairs like butter. Soon, the surviving ships engaged their cruise engines and flew towards the edge of the cloud.

"Should we fire cruise disruptors captain?" Said the weapons officer, her finger resting on the button.

"Nay, hold fire, this is a patrol only. We need to re-group with the Battlegroup. Navigation officer, set course for the designated way-point."

"I hear you captain."

The Communication Officer spoke up next; "Incoming Transmission Captain. Its from the Admiral. Do you accept or Decline?"

"I accept of Course!" Said Bryns. And the Admirals voice came through the Gargoyle-headed speaker.

"Bryns! I am Holding an Emergency meeting. Get to the Conference Chamber! Admiral Regensberry out!" And the Transmission was Terminated.

"XO Taverly, You have the Con." And with that, Bryns walked to the conference room.

Once there, he sat down in his designated spot among of the twenty empty chairs. In the rest of the Fleet, the otehr captains were doing the same. At once, holograms activated and each captain showed up as if he or she were sitting in the same room as Bryns, with the Admiral Taking the head chair.

"Captains!" Said Admiral Regensberry. " I have received some intel from the Brass Down on New London! The corsairs are Planning a Big strike, and thanks to some freelancers, we know where they are grouping in Omega 41. We are adivised to head there and anihillate this attacking force."

Marvins, the captain of the Destroyer "Onslaught" was the next to speak up; "What do we know of the corsair Fleet?"

"Nothing much, other then they are testing a Prototype cruiser and they have several gunboats. They won't be expecting a full Brentonian attack. Bryns, I want you to regroup as soon as possible."

"Aye, we got hugh up near the Omega three jump hole, a bunch of titans it wasn't much to Worry about. We are en Rout Now."

"This is good. I am sending the latest batch of Co-ordinates now. Dismissed!" The admirals hologram faded away. Bryns pushed a button on his chair and he stood up and walked towards the bridge.

"Taverly, I have command again." He said as we walked in and stood in the command Dias. "Comm's officer, upload the New Co-ordinates."

As Bryns looked out the main window at the fleet Clustered around the omega 41 Jumphole, he smiled. When Brentonia mustered he entire forces, nothign could stop her. There was Admiral Regensberry onboar his Flagship Edinburgs Heart, Followed by the Three cruisers Onslaught, Charter, and Serendipity. There were severn other gunboats, Tacit Blade, Sabre, God's Message, Norton, Iron Will, Thanatos, and the AndrewCraig. Not to mention the HUndreds of Fighters in formation around the capital ships and the hundreds more contained in the Admirals Battleship.

All in all, this was a force to be reconed with. Bryns knew that verus a few measily cruisers and some gunboats, they would slaughter the Corsair Scum.

The Admirals Voice rang over the Fleet open channel; "Captain Bryns, Captain Driscoll(of the Tacit Blade. Take Your ships and a wing of fighters into the Omega 41 system. Lure the Corsairs To us, in Omega 5. Hurry! Before we get picked up by the Pirates near Cadiz.

"Acknowlegded Admiral. Navigation Officer, take us through the Jump-hole."

"Aye captain. She pushed a few Buttons and the Semeter was wisked through.

The Ride was short and un-eventful, as Jumps always are. As soon as the the Semeter exited the Hole, Bryns felt a tiggling sensation on his skin. The Radiation From the Distant Neutron Star was strong enough to get to his ship, but he knew he was protected from the majority of the damage. He popped a Cryer Anti Rad pill in his Mouth and looked at the holo map. The Long Range Scanners were detecting some smaller ships, possible gunboat class vessels.

Bryns knew there was no way he could tell if they were Freelancers or Corsairs, so he sent a Squad of Five Fighters to Investigate.

"Captain Driscoll, Can You make a few runs with the Fighters in a fifty Kilometre radius around the Jump Hole? I will stay here and make sure they don't spring us."

"Good Sugestion. I will be back within the Hour." The comm's shut off.

"Nav Officer, put all our systems on stand-by."

"Aye Captain."

About 45 minutes later, after Captain Bryns had gotten a cup of Synthetic Coffee, he saw the icon for the Tacit Blade on the Holographic nav map. It was headed at full cruise towards the Semeters Location. The Comms pickedd up some Signals.

"Captain Bryns! The corsairs are coming! WE got about 5 gunboats and two cruisers, but the cruisers are like nothing I have ever Seen before! We lost power to several Decks as well as all the fighters, but we will make it back alright"

"I read you Captain Driscoll. I am informing the fleet now."

Bryns sent the message on wards, warning the fleet of the approaching ships.

"We have your message, Semeter, tell us when to strike."

No sonner said then done, when the Tacit Blade flew into veiw. "Get them off us!"

"Were on it!" Said Bryns. The Semeterdove down behind an large asteroid and fired a torpedo at one of the Corsair gunboats. The projectle glanced the sheilds and the sleek craft turned towards the Brentonian Craft. Bryns spun out from the rock and fired savlo after salvo at the craft. Its sheiulds dropped and it moved to get to a better firing possition. The Tacit Blade followed suit and fired on the striken Gunboat and soon it floated life-less, it atmosphere draining through a hole in its side.

And then in a flash, a large white shot from one of the strange, sleek black corsair Cruisers hit the Tacit Blade and its entire midsection was lost, only the sdie sponsons remained. IN that second, the Brentonian Fleet appeared through the swirling orange jump-hole. And as one, they fired.

The corsair ships started to die.

One of the first cruisers took twenty seconds of continuous fire from Edinburgs Heart and the rest of the Cruisers. It soon became a floating wreak. Captain Bryns focus on the fighters, his gunboat cutting them down in swaths. It was the Legionairs he enjoyed killing, They were the hardest to hit and the explosions were staisfying when the tiny craft popped like a mosquitoe.

The last Cruiser and two gunboats turned and tried to flee. They fired at the Onslaugh and dropped its sheilds but they were driven away. They enaged their cruise engines and flew towards the neutron star when the unthinkable happened.

A Nomad battleship uncloaking infront of them. The gunboats tried to trun but they crashed along the alien ships imense bulk and exploded. The cruiser, as the captain was smart, truned off his cruise engines and fired at the ship as he dove down below the plane of the system, but lagre pink flourecent blasts silenced it.

Nomad Cruisers and gunboats started appearing, and soon, gapping holes in the side of the battleship spat out swarms of Alien fighters. For a few seconds the Brentonians stood there, starring out their veiw ports at the magnificant yet terrifying sight.

"Fire!" Shouted the Admiral Over the Fleet-Comms.

The Brentonians fired but so did the Nomads and the effect was Disastrous. Half of the gunsboats were blown into peices smaller then a human eye could see and while Bryns fired back, his weapons were inefective agains the massive bulk of the Nomads.

The Admirals Battleship sped forward, straight into the nomad battle-line. His battlerazors lashed out angrily and many of the nomad gunboats and fighters were demolished. The great Symbol of Brentonia flew up clsoe to the nomad mother ship and fired point blank, its mighty weapons taking large chuncks off of it. The Alien ship responded by latching onto the Hmad vessle with large prods, these fired out and impaled the Brentonian craft and pulled it towards the Nomad ship.

The Admiral and Edinburgs Heart Were undoubtly lost, their crew to become nomad slaves. Bryns saw the Onslaught retreating from the battlewith the nomad cruisers and gunboats, it sped away into the depths of Omega 41, Purple lasers follwoing it, but failing to reach it.

"Nav Officer! Follow that ship! we need to get out of here!" Bryns shouted

"I understand comander." He pushed several buttons and the cruise engines started charging up when a large impacet occured and The Captain was knocked off his feet.

"Sir! Were stuck!"

"I can tell! What is the eingine room saying?"

The Comms officer opened the chanel with the Egine Room. All that came through was a few muffled voices and enough sreams to haunt the dreams of any mortal for three lifetimes.

"Whats happening?!" Shouted Bryns

"They have probably boarded us captain...." Said the weapons officer, her voice trailing off.

"Sir, lost contact with the forward turret bays. Oh and now the Torpedo bay."

"Get Your CQC weapons, it has been an hounor flying beside you." Bryns drew his ceremonial sword and the lights went out, leaving them in total darkness cept for the glow from the starts out the main veiwport.

The Nomads were among them before the could retaliate.

Bryns realised he had consiusness. He was allive! He tried to open his eyes, but he could not. He fratical tried to perform any movement of any kind but he was stuck.

His eyes opened but not volutarily. He was in his cabin on the Semeter He was forced to walk over to the mirror and looked at him self. He had no control what-so-ever over his body.

"What is happening?!" He thought. He 'looked' at his face and to his utter horror, his eyes were not the usualy deep green, but a shocking blue/purple. He was infected by a nomad!

Good Job, gun Commander Bryns. It usualy takes humans alot longer to figure this out.

"Get out of my head alien!

You are far too useful for that

"What do you want with me?!"

You Humans are so much fun. The fools in Your patron nation will be rejocing at your 'survival' when we get back to New London

"What are you doing?!"

Having a little fun. You don't realise how much great this We can do now that we have a Brentonian Captain in our hands. Too bad your admiral detonated his battleship before we could get to him. I bet you wish you did the same.

Greif Overcame Bryns and his Conciousness slipped into the back corners of his mind.

Klakivsh shut Bryns Conciousness into a deep memory lobe, he would be let out occasionaly, for instance when His family was Dying at the Hands of his bodies new owner. The host walked onto the bridge, wher the rest of the blue-eyed crew piloted the course To Cambridge. He smiled, something he could never have done in his orgiginal Form.

Humans are so much fun.
