I thought you were still going off the old rule - which was used by a lot of players to shoot the snot out of traders without any RP at all - and THEN making the RP or demand when they were already damaged.
As long as you're RP'ing like Elsdragon is refering to, then you're fine. That's exactly what 6.6 is designed to cover - those guys that say, "Halt" and then start shooting at you. They can no longer do that. And equanimitee, that's acceptable with those two lines, but just barely.

What happens if a Starflea (or other small ship below level 30) starts ramming my capital ship or transport? It happens depressingly often and is often accompanied by a string of 'lol's from the ship in question.

Code:
5.4 Intentional ramming of capital ships (gunboat-class or larger) by fighters and other capital ships is not allowed in PvP combat, as well as in any other situations.
Code:
3.3 Out-of-character (OOC) chat must not be used in system or local chat. OOC communication in group or private chat between players will cease if one player requests it. Admins are free to communicate with any player at any time.
Need I say more?
Characters Alan Markson: The Hellfire Legion's Lord Commander The Perihelion: Freeport Four's guardian, and yet much more. Missing and assumed Lost with all hands. Eric Dresmund: Junker, smuggler, thief. Last seen drunk on Beaumont Vayrn Wyard: IMG Recon pilot turned Neo-Terran Captain. Last location unknown
What about if you load up Freelancer, go into space to find that your home system is under attack by say... BHG? Is acceptable RP to joining the fray something like, "This is pilot so-and-so, I am coming to aid!" or "Engaging the hostiles!"
Or do you need more than that?
Thanks to MikeyH for the banner.

Say a starflea attacks an NPC BS then flees behind my big fat tradeship so the NPC BS shoots me up. Can I blow the flea away since he is clearly using stupid npc's to try to kill me? (actually happened {little bastard})

No. Just move out of the way, and let the NPC's handle the starflea.

Telling a trader to halt in an RPish fashion is a demand. So that would negate your #2 Beck. You've made a demand simply by telling them to stop. Once they stop you cannot tear them to an inch of their life then make another demand, you have 50% of the trader's shield to get their attention. If they don't comply then you can shred them.
I'll tell you that if I was stopped and I complied only to have a pirate piss all over my hull, I am going to open fire on you without interacting, because I do have the right to defend myself per the rules.
So to me that would mean, no a pirate doesn't have the right to deal as much damage as they like before making demands. If you don't make a demand, how the hell am I going to know you are RP'n with me?
