The question has been brought up, "when is it appropriate to use engine kill?"
I ask if the rule is required any longer.

Yes, the current rule is still required. Mainly due to shield running and gaining an advantage when duking it out in cap ships.

However, the rule needs to be more specific about when your opponent is in cruise also. Everyone knows about the rule but it's very vague when your opponent hits cruise to run away. IMO, this needs to be addressed.

I would argue that the current tactic of "Cruise Disruptor spamming" is adequate to stop someone from gaining cruise in the first place.

If someone makes cruise, they should have the option of engine kill so they can screw up their escape properly.;)

Personally I see no real need for the rule. Why would you choose to fly in a straight line and slow down while running? It is of no real benefit as you're disadvantaged while trying to re-engage cruise.

I was always against that rule.
In my opinion, it just kills 50% of the strategy of the CS vs CS combat. As of now, the guy with the biggest gun wins. No strategy anymore.

Btw, I've removed the "I don't care" option. I prefer to see a more defined result on this poll.

Moved to Server forum where rule-related discussions should be posted, placed the poll on the main page.

Definitely yes. But the rule should be made a little more clear.

Killing engine in pursuit while both fighting ships are in cruise should be allowed and this should be specified in the rule. To avoid further misinterpretations...

EDIT: Oh, sorry, Zepphos already wrote the same...

I think the removal of the rule would bring too many shieldrunning opportunities in the first place. If the Cruise Disruptors would work as they should, I wouldn't have anything against removing it.

The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. Yes, but the strategies were abused when people in caps simply shield ran and then returned. You can't always CD them, at least in time, since there are usually others shooting you, or if its not a BS, they just use CMs.

If people refrained from shield running during CS/CS battles I'd be for abolishing the rule. But until something can be done about it, people would simply use the excuse that they weren't shield running, they were trying to gain an advantage in the CS/CS fight. Funny how they always seem to come back and use their 'advantage' just after that shield finishes recharging.

Totally in favour of the rule.

Oh and making CDs work as they should will be most appreceiated. For now it's rather... hard to use.

I find impressive the accuracy of the npcs to fire these CDs.
