yea, it's probably as good as photoshop (never really used photoshop, at least not for a few years now), but it takes a lot of time to do stuff like this, and it's probably easier with other programs. THis one took me about 30 minutes, and it was only 27 frames to edit.

GIMP is really nice for making animations like this. I as of yet have not found how to do so in PS (probably because I've not been looking for it).
The main think that keeps me from using GIMP over PS is the "linear dodge" blend mode.

I do all my Sigs with Gimp, it's a bit of learning by doing..and normally i'm not good in learning.:P
I believe although i can't use Borders (like the sigs of others have it in).

I think the biggest advantage of GIMP over its counterparts like Photoshop is that GIMP is open-source software. Probably it will never be as powerful as Photoshop, but I think not many average users need all those PS features.
