Write a review on the Mod. Simple right? I mean, some reviews could be used as feedback on the mod, and maybe even used as a review for mod sharing sites or something.
I don't ask it to be long, nor do I ask it to be like a Yahtzee ZP review but it would be quite hilarious.
I'll get around to writing one sometime soon, I'm too tired to write one now.
* Ability to be almost anyone in a large universe.
* Strong lore and story.
* A wide range of ships, of all classes, to choose from.
* A great outlet for your creative side.
* Future of Discovery decided largely by... Discovery Members.
Bad points:
* Lolwuts, people with little (or no) knowledge of Roleplay or the Rules, or Fairplay.
* Alot of balance issues.
* Currency is majorly screwed, alot doesn't make sense for good balance.
* Lack of source code, game is limited to certain modifications.
* 90% of the community are D***s.
Discovery is a fantastic way to waste time, by thinking up an alter-ego and taking to space!
There are a wide variety of beautiful systems and ships, aswell as dozens of joinable factions and massively detailed lore.
Your creativity is free to run wild as you can explore hundreds of character variations in hundreds of ships. There are sigs to be made and stories to be written on the forum, along with the development section, where players are open to suggest changes and advances to the mod.
Unfortunately, Discovery suffers from alot of players who don't understand the rules, roleplay or simple fairplay.
Central core systems are packed with 'lolwuts', usually in large ships, ruining other peoples fun. Alot of these people will eventually learn to play nice, though this is not always the case.
Discovery's community is strong and relitively large, though some players hold unnessesary grudges and can get quite unfriendly...
Discovery Freelancer is a free modification for Microsoft games 'Freelancer' space combat simulator. The mod was created by Igiss 4 years ago. It is currently the most popular freelancer mod and has a large forum with over 14 thousand members. The official server, Discovery Freelancer RP 24/7 is the most populated freelancer server, with a 200 hundred player limit. The idea of the Discovery mod is for it to be an expansion for Freelancer, and pick up where the original freelancer left off.
Its major release this year was Discovery 4.85 Runion. The new version featured many new ships, systems and weapons to the mod, highly enhancing the gameplay experiance. Since then there have been three updates covering bug fixes, and some new ships.
Good ________________
-Discovery allows players to fly capital ships.
-Hundreds of new ship models to fly
-A vibrant community of avid game and disco enthusiasts.
-Discvery mod is 100% free to play and download.
-Discovery is a community project as well as Igiss's creation. Anyone can contribute models, ideas, ect
-RP 24/7 is a role playing server, anyone who wants to RP is welcome.
-Exhilarating PVP battles and dogfights.
-Lots of player factions to join
Bad ________________
-Even with the Pensilvania (,newcomer) star system. There are still a large amount of players who do not roleplay and cannot be bothered looking up the rules. These people are known as 'lolwuts'. They ruin RP and engage a player as soon as they see he is red without any notice.
-NPC's ruin your roleplay just as much as lolwutters. Furthermore, you see them all the time.
I think discovery is a great mod, with a great community. I just wish that the community were more collectively supportive of roleplay. Unfortunaty, the lolwut issue is yet to be resolved and many peoples RP is ruined daily. I find a good method of countering the lultage is to roleplay back to them even if they are spamming you with 7331 rubbish and 20 battleship missle turrets.
The influence we have in the mod is by giving our opinions.
Why did they added some reserve power with the cruise drain?
To make a compromise with ppl wanting it removed.

You know what? Hes acutally sort of right about some stuff there. I didn't even know what RP stood for the first 2 weeks I started playing. Its wonder I never got sanctioned back in my lolnoob days.
When people get here. They only want to get the best ships, best guns. Thats how they played the sandbox after the campain in 1.o
agreed. new players are hurled into the deep. most have no clue what to do or how to act.
some pick up the way of things (very) fast, others don't seem to care at all.
still, it's so easy to start yelling 'damn new players dai dai dai already!'
while in fact maybe a SMALL introduction would be better. not 10 pages of tedious rules, restrictions and sanction threats. but just a small guideline with a big fat link to the forums.
-Big universe, well populated, even if just by NPCs, immersive storyline
-Lack of exploits (usually)
-Somewhat good balance compared with games of this scale
-Admins that are active in game
-Mostly nice in game community (not counting lulwuts, and on the opposite end of the spectrum, RPtards who reach for sanction as a first resort instead of last)
-Free to play
-No 'donor gear' like other games' private servers
-Few cheaters (see below)
Bad
-10milordai
-PvP whores (maybe same as 10milordai)
-Broken mission system
-New player experience, most end up having to be given cash by a pro to start up
-Despite the rules saying 'sanction as a last resort', when I do get sanc'd in those days when I was a newb, no one EVER talked to me. They just reached straight for the banhammer. Despite the same report thread requesting to talk to the offending party and work it out and sanc as a last resort.
-Cheaters. Lots of them. Every few minutes one gets banned. More cheaters than players.
