Agree with the cockpit enhancement. Just so it LOOKS like a cockpit. Yes thru power armor, so doesn't have to be clear... perhaps a scoring or what not to show it's a cockpit. I love the design. a bit darker on the texture... um... yeah handling is not actually part of the design or concept phase, those things are determined by numerical properties that are put in place after, pitch, yaw...etc. But yes... as a 'drunken monkey' pilot... I'd opt for better turning for sure. Also hardpoints, make it handle the class five turret so the phantoms can actually USE their turret? How'd that be?
That would be marking where the cockpit is? That works, I would also think it could be marked by a sort of inset area, or an area that stands out slightly.
There ya go, darker and with a clear "cockpit" area. Now it kinda allows the mind to say...okay that's where the pilot is. While the notion of vision thru fly by wire is valid, I would remember that the Ghosties are yanno... not AI nodes. hehe. At least not yet?

Oh I was thinking about the Phantoms can see inside the visors of their armor. Like it ties into the ships and there is no need for view screens. So they can see, it's not that they would need to be AI nodes. That's actually technology that is in use today, in tanks and modern aircraft for night flying when they can't see anyway.
If so, the Phantom ships wouldn't need open cockpits which allows them to be more heavily armored in that area.
