Hi,
I noticed that in the last few days ( 3/5 ) the game is quite slow. It doesn't seem to be a lag problem (ping = 100, loss = 0%).
It does not seem to be a problem of my computer, as well: no new software intalled, no virus found, no spyware.
At the beginning I though it was due to the large number of player during the w-end: almost always more than 150. But now there are only 47 player connected and still the game is very slow.
I was wondering if any change has been made, in the last week, in the server that could explain a big reduction in performances. Can anybody help me?
edit: typos corrected

What do you mean by "slow"? Low FPS and such or lag? If first, then i have the same problem sometimes, and some more people do too. Restarting FL or just docking-undocking usually fixes that.

You need to be more specific in your definition of "the game is quite slow."

More specific ok:
0) Ping between 100 and 120, Loss 0%, Lag between 0% and 2%.
1) when I choose Disco 24/7 on the server list and I click the "connect" button the "loading" message stays on my screen for ages. I mean, the loading process while connecting to the disco server is much slower than it was used to be.
2) when I launch from planet (or station) the cinematics of my ship in space is not fluid, I see "jumps" in the images... like if it was a slow-motion.
The thing is strange cause it never happened to me before. Is it possible that other players are using forbidden mods and this affect my game experience?

1. Go to the Freelancer\EXE folder.
2. Open the file Freelancer.ini with notepag
3. Look for the line in the section [ListServer]
Code:
hostname = gun.fllistserver.com ;GUN server provided by www.fllistserver.com
and put a semicolon in front of it to comment it out.
Code:
;hostname = gun.fllistserver.com ;GUN server provided by www.fllistserver.com
Start/Restart Freelancer. Does this fix your problem?
On the other hand, it means i will have to edit the ini file every time i want to connect to some other server and then edit it after i want to connect to disco again. Oh hell, if you find a way to fix it in some other way let me know.
Wait a second, it only began after the update. Can't there be some conflict between the ip set in shortcut and adding the server with this ip to the autofinding thing? Gotta try and remove the adress from the shortcut.

No, it's not. I don't have the ip set in the shortcut but I still experienced the "slowing".

You don't need the IP in the shortcut anymore, after update 3 was released.
In short, Discovery has 3 ways of finding the servers on the net :
1) The IP/URLS that are included with the mod, and located in the Discovery mod specific configuration file dsupdate.cfg.
2) Passing of the IP/Url via the commandline, by adding the -s parameter to the freelancer shortcut.
3) Using a GUN server, in this case the community provided one, since Microsoft shut theirs down some years ago.
Update 3 enabled the third option, which by default was disabled previously. Somehow that interferes in some cases. These cases are happening relative to the position of the moon related to what color of underwear Hoodlum wears and how much beer Cannon has had in the last 24 hours. In other words, theres no way to predict when, for who and why these cases happens, without invading Hoodlums and Cannons privacysphere.
By disabling option 3, with the fix that Cannon provided, and Caelum + Vladimir refers to in this thread, options 1 and 2 are still in effect. If you aren't passing any -s parameter from your freelancer shortcut, then option 1 takes effect.
Just make sure that you apply the fix mentioned by Caelum and Vladimir. That should take care of the "frame lag" that appears sometimes when at the main menu, or in game right after having started the game.
