So one of my trade routes involves carrying Military Vehicles. I've been stopped, scanned, asked where they're going, etc., but since I pick them up from a Liberty base, and carry them to another Liberty base, there's usually no problems.
The other day though, an LPI stopped me and asked me for my permit. He ended up letting me go, and I asked him later in PM oorp if it you actually needed one in Liberty. He told me you did, and that it was a law that was usually just not enforced.
I looked at the Laws of Sirius or whatever, and the Liberty laws don't say anything about transporting them, though the Bretonia laws do. Can anyone affirm my findings? And if you do need a permit, where can I get one?

Its touchy since if memory serves, Rheinland make some, and transporting them to Liberty would be illegal I believe. LPI cannot say for certain where they originate from, but they have to do best guesses on 'hot' commodities.
Post a communication in the roleplay forum asking for a permit in the open, say where you get them and where you drop them and I'm sure they'll work something out for you and add you to their little 'to do pester' list.
But apart from that, Military transports should be hauling them, but that is a different topic I believe.
Just out of curiosity, where do you haul them from and to? I have an armored transport that would probably be good for this that I'd like to try moving military supplies around with.
I'm pretty sure you have to have a certain ID to legally transport military vehicles, like the house trading corporations for the system you're trading through. A freelancer or indie trader is not supposed to be trading military vehicles. It doesn't stop Santa.Claus though. He's above the law.
*puts on fedora and trenchcoat* Now I know what sort of community you really are. *walks off into the rain*
No you just need a permit to transport the goods thought a ID that ''would'' haul it is also required because I don't think Synth Foods would be hauling Military Goods. :D
I fly a Freelancer ID'd 3k transport. It's from Ft. Severn in Ontario to Battleship Concord in New Hampshire.
I also figure, in RP, liberty would want as many of those hauled to the battlefront as possible, so most navy/LPI would be willing to overlook the fact that I'm not an official corporation. I also bring back prisoners from the battleship, presumably Rhienlanders captured in the war, and take alloy back to Severn for them to make more military vehicles. And the circle of life begins anew...
And it's all in-Liberty, so I suppose in RP, Xenos shouldn't bother you... if they believe you.
PS I don't mind if you pirates decide to pirate this route now, I'm going to be gone for 20 days;)
And I've pirated it before, not too many traders. A good spot is about halfway between Severn and the planet in the middle of the map, gives the traders nowhere to run. Though, I've never seen a lawful in Ontario, so it's pretty safe.

You dont need a permit or a licence.
Its legal as long as its not going to or coming from Rheinland.
I can see why the LPI was touchy since the Minnesota jump hole is a bit down the lane to Bering in Texas.
But it doesnt change the fact, you dont need a licence.
FYI, you need certain ID papers to be transporting Nuclear devices. Not Military Vehicles.
EDIT: The above information was correct at the time of writing and is subject to change according to changes made in the laws of Liberty document.
Just keep in mind that transporting military goods through warring houses is usually illegal. For example, while playing my KSP officer, I find a lot of traders taking military vehicles from Munich to Tau 31. In order to get to the Tau systems, they go through Kusari. The KSP doesn't allow most traders to carry military vehicles through the Taus, since they could just as easily be going to help Bretonia as they could be going to help Kusari.
Pretty much, just be careful while hauling military goods through Kusari towards Bretonia. If you're carrying those kinds of supplies across warring borders (Liberty-Rheinland, too), be prepared to get in trouble with the law.
From what I read on the wiki before I transported them was that Bretonia will be touchy on the transportation of it and the trader would require their permission. Also Rheinland will tax traders with military vehicles leaving in a Liberty direction. I usually bring the military vehicles to Gallic space.
I have also done this route. It is perfectly legal.Permit is needed for specific company's to transport from Rheinland space,to lib. Not lib>lib. Hell you should see the greif i get when they see me in an ALG Hauler? with ALG IFF/ID. All the noobs come running"kill the rheinlander". People need to really REALLY read the law's,and ID's.
