I read somewhere that mercs don't have much work. So I`d like to say the Roleplay is a bigger factor than getting loads of money, so the cost wouldn't really be an issue. Also anyone can hire us, freelancers, police, military, pirates.

So the ID says we can do bounties, escorts, police work(hunting pirates and terrorists), military work.

It says we can't pirate, but we weren't planning on doing jobs that means asking for tax. And ofcourse we aren't planning on joining anyone, they can hire us yes- but they couldnt afford our loyalty forever <_<

I think some people may be put of hiring mercs because there isn't a clear set of jobs, payment etc. Well payment wouldnt be an issue, we know there is no point making the costs high and would rather enjoy the game roleplaying as mercs.

As for the jobs, use your imagination. We cant ask for tax and we cant kill neutrals/under level 30s. But what about privately hiring for a hit&run attack, blockades, assassinations, or just as wingmen for an upcoming battle.

Contact via PM or on our Forums for working out jobs.

Hmm, most of my pilots are mercs, and it isn't hard to find something to RP.
If I'm bored and the major factions aren't hiring, then I just patrol for pirates and say the in-game factions hired me ^.^

Ok tell me if i did something wrong here. I have a MERC char who has a BH BS.I was hired by traders to protect a trade route from pirate's and other not so friendly's who fire, or try to pirate them. I admit my ship curently has a liberty rogue tag due to the fact i killed like 100 xenos to become friendly to most of space. But today i had a pirate saying i cannot fire on him due to my rogue tag because he was a outcast tagged pirate ID'd ship.I saw nothing wrong with killing him/her due to me just following my contract to kill pirates. SO am i in the wrong fullfilling a MERC contract to kill someone who is ally'd with what my TAG states even if i have a MERC ID. I also took RP greif from a hessien saying they can't pirate due to pirates not able to afford MERC's as much as trader's can.(not my problem) I work for good or bad depends on who pays me, plain and simple. That is what MERC's do.

I say, as long as you work on your tag, your clear on that part. However, Mercs are lawful. They just don't want to be constrained by the Bounty hunters guild.

My apologies Ryoken, but that was my group and I at the time.

It appears you were correct in that you could fire on me, when I made the statement I hadn't yet scanned you're ship. With you being tagged as Rouge I thought you were just firing on me because I was tagged as Outcast.

I'm curious however, why you didn't fire on the Hessian or the Gains Pilot accompanying me, they are after all both pirates.

And the Hessian wasn't aiming the comment directly at you so far as I could tell. But we did then continue the conversation after we had left your firing range. It went something like this:

"There's no point in pirating anymore, it's too damn hard"
"Yep, there's too many rules"
"And too many traders with too much cash hiring out too much protection"
"It's a dying art"
"And too damn hard"
"There's no point"

...and so on with all the usual whinges that pirates (including myself) whinge about.

I do have a general problem with the Mercenary tag however, I think that Mercs should be allowed to do everything the tag states EXCEPT fulfil Bounty Contracts. If you set a Bounty let the BHG pick it up. Even then, you'd still be allowed to attack us, provided that you were escorting a trader. In short, Merc's get far to much choice in what they can and can't do compared to every other ID.

Now, the trader that hired you, I want to challenge a point that he raised.

Before Ryoken showed up, myself and my group attempted to pirate him and his sso| escort. The trader got away but we successfully engaged the sso| pilot. Myself and another were shot down, leaving our last group member to fight the sso| pilot solo, as per the server 1 kill rule concerning non-capital ships. During this time, the sso| pilot's charge returned through the system continuing his trade run. Now, the time between the first engagement and second engagement was around 10 minutes. So classified it as a new fight and opened fire, at which point the said trader started shouting off, in system chat and in full caps that we had been killed and weren't allowed to engage him. My POV: The sso| pilot killed us, not the trader, thus we could engage him to our hearts content. Also a considerable amount of time had elapsed between us losing the trader during the first contact and the second contact. Thirdly, the sso| pilot and the third member of my group were still fighting and the trader was in no way at all involved in the fight.

(S)He seems to think that because his escort killed us and he came past where we fought him the first time round, he has immunity.

When the trader jumped back into the system where the sso| vs. Group Member 3's fight was still going on, myself and my colleuge dis-engaged so as not to violate the servers rules. It's at this point Ryoken was hired, jumped into Omega-5 (in a BS, silly boy:P) and proceeded to fire on me with no warning, nor explanation until I was safely hidden behind Cadiz.

Could the trader kindly come forward and identify himself and could an admin give a ruling on this please?

..sigh.. I wish traders were hiring lots of protection, might give me more to do than sit in a system joking around and dispensing info from my logs..

I agree with this, the BHG should be the only ones to fulfill bounty contracts, since they seem to have cornered the market RP-wise.

Personally I see why they don't hire protection..why bother. Large train getting taxed? Whats 2mil when you can make 10 just by going from theta to cambridge. Whereas they believe they would have to pay like 500k- a million for protection which might fail.

Hordes of Xeno tagged bombers..now that could cause an increase in the escort market.

Appart from escorts, mercs can do loads of other stuff, hiring two merc bombers or a merc gunboat to help your forces in a certain system for a week, helpful and not too hard to setup, I don't see why people dont.

It would cause more people to use thw BHG tag, I think its underused currently.

Plus you can still hire mercs for assassinations or raids, whereas a bounty is more like have a page where you list characters and put up money for their death:)

A question, can mercs be hired to kill traders(not pirate- kill) ?

Hmm, interesting;
"Can not openly join unlawful forces"

That phrase interests me.

I guess Mercs could be hired to assasinate/kill a trader that keeps smuggling illegal items, as long as the merc do a cargo scan ond positive make an ID that the trader is carring a illegal cargo.
otherwise it is a nono :nono:( i could be wrong on this)

Just my 2 cents

I am not a native English Speaker, so i make grammar errors.
But it annoys me when people make silly comments about that... especially brits who for the most part can't speak their own language let alone anyone elses!
