Alright, I dont really care for the level of RP, or overall in game conduct, when youre an indy. But, when you join an official faction, I somehow start to care how you act under a certain tag. Mostly because, poor conduct of one, or more faction members effect all the other members as well. That is called generalization. The role we perform and how we act in game is judged not individually, but as whole group. A faction is only as good as its worst member.
Going OOC in system and local chat is a bloody no-go. If you have something to say to another party use the lovely green letters. Green is a color that rests the eyes. White and blue in combination with // burns them badly. There is only one situation in which you can use OOC in local chat and that is when you disconnect in middle of a RP, or PVP session.
Group chat is not Skype. Freelancer is not meant to be a chit chat program. I do not like your cat, I do not care what car you have. Going // in group, especially when BAF is grouped with 'outsiders' (such as but not limited to MM, BPA, BMM, Gateway, Bowex) is again a damn no-go. If you cant say anything in RP, then dont even start typing.
Rule lawyering. If you feel that someone did something wrong, by all means, inform him about his mistake, but in private chat and try and be polite. Screaming 'U CANT DO DAT!!!?1?!one' in system chat makes my head alternate from hitting my desk to hitting the wall.
Red is dead. Sure, why not, wanting to get into a fight is not an evil or bad thing, but what you need to remember is that you should ALWAYS RP with the person you want to fight. Never under any circumstances engage someone without roleplaying/warning him first.
If you are here only to 'engage' people, do me a favor and go to some more PVP oriented server. This server is called RP for a good reason. Everyone is capable of talking with an enemy before a fight. I dont want Homer, I never liked Kafka, and Shakespeare is just boring. But, what I expect from you is something more than just 'leave or be destroyed'.
Using overwhelming forces in battle. That is something that every commander has a right to prevent, or not to. Thats your choice. Keep in mind that every pesky/annoying Corsair, Molly, random bad guy, is in fact another human being, playing the same game as you are, in his free time trying to enjoy it and have fun. Do you want to spoil it for him that much ?
It is a game. I doubt that any of us brag to friends how many damn Naval Forces we killed yesterday. Blue messages are not main goal.
Swearing. Well, guess what, it is forbidden in both system and local chat. In group chat, you can use more mature words, like creative racial insults for your foes, but dont cross that line. Respect your fellow team mates, and your fellow enemy.
Camping pirate base. It is a poor form. InRP, pirates would send every bone at you. OORP is just poor form. Dont follow pirates to their nebulas, asteroid fields. Break of, or you will jump into ambush. If the pirate flees, you are victorious. There is no need to follow him to the docking ring.
Patrick already spoke about some of this in BAF chat. Recent events showed that he was mainly ignored.
PS. Firing squad is trigger happy, and we always welcome our badies to suicide bomber squad. One way ticket for Stokes.
That would be all, thank you for your time.
Sadly, I have to agree that the BAF|'s conduct has taken a slight downturn recently. It's gone from a small issue to a more frequent one I hear about on the feedback thread.
As for ganking, I'd say it happens when you have 5-10 people on against 1-2 enemies. We should restrain ourselves much more strictly than we currently do.
Personally, I think it's because we have several new lieutenants and ensigns that have joined in a very short amount of time.
That's understandable.
However, I've seen these sort of things done by relatively high-ranking players, which is really unfortunate.
All BAF| pilots should read Banza's blunt but accurate comments. I suggest we tell future recruits to read it as well.
