I, for one, love this new development. Rheinland needs more capital ships and a Heavy Battle Cruiser sounds very Rheinlandish. Rheinland = heavy, bulky, armored, and Firepower. I can see the Rheinland RMHC approving a counter to the Liberty Battle-cruiser in the shape of this.
Quote:I know we're not supposed to discuss whether or not a faction needs/deserves a ship, but the Rhienland Military's strategy does not revolve around Capital Ship combat. Liberty's Capital Ship fleet is too strong, so their focus is primarily on smaller combat craft, that is why they made the Fafnir. All a Battlecruiser will do is make an easy target for the Liberty Siege Cruiser to destroy. Rheinland's resources would be better put towards constructing the already fine fighter class vessels they have.
QUOTE
The blow struck against Rheinland following the events of the war of 800 A.S. placed a heavy burden on Rheinland's already struggling economy and military might. With her dearly bought fleets reduced to the broken testament to a curious period in humanity's history it seemed as though little could be gained save a lesson.
One which Rheinland took to heart.
The Fafnir bomber, brought into the field on the immediate brink of a long forseen war is the result of nearly twenty years of studious labor on how to best break the back of a foe's capital fleet... and restore Rheinland's military glory on the field of battle.
That is the Fafnir's infocard. What about that makes you think Rhienland would bother creating a Battlecruiser? They lost the 80 year war because they relied on Capital Ships.
And yes, Rheinland did learn a lot for the 80 years war in regard to bombers and Capships interacting with one another, but that doesn't mean us Rheinlanders cant make good use of this Bulky Love Box with improved tactics.
Don't worry, we will find a place in our hearts for this lovely brick.
