Allright, after missiles I come to wonder.
Why not make the FLAK turrets being really FLAK? I mean I love the Fliegerabwehrkanone, however the current turrets...
And seeing this be a radical idea probably. Make them rapid firing, very inaccurate explosive shells exploding at a distance you target. IE ship in your reticule is 800m away, shells explode in a random fashion 800 off the ship. They dont have to damage alot, just have really big refire rate and this confusion in their explosion and hit %:)
I hope ye catch my meaning. Think it can be done or current flak turrets are good as they are? Because really, if you imagine the early WWII flak for example, it was like setting skies on fire, especially near battleships and all their guns. Why not make our battleships finally something else then bomber targets?
So I believe what you're asking is that battleships become firework displays instead of battleships?
Apart from the fact that this would probably cause quite a bit of lag... would there be any real difference as to what it does? You can still see the crosshair and targeting system through however many effects you put on there anyway. It may effect those who don't use such trivial systems and rely on their gaming skills for their perfect aim, though using such fireworks hinders both your enemies and allies.
Shouldn't battleships be battleships, not massive lag-fest firework displays?
Well lets not make this another bomber whine thread. Currently bombers are still answer to all stuff weapon. Cruisers and above are just targets that grow bigger and bigger.
My aim was to have a weapon that can create a wall of fire at certain distance to prevent easy long range snac spam of capital ships. Nor to mention, itd be cool looking.

Use four flaks evenly distributed along the BS, you'll have your wall of fire. I've used 4 flaks along with my primaries against bombers and fighters for months. The extremely rare time I come across a bomber that stays outside of the 1.1k range of the flaks are picked off by my escorts who will stay out side of the 1k bubble of the BS. I get mutliple kills in a a little quick barrage of primaries and flaks. Since I use an oversized cow of a dread, Solaris are useless for me, but I'm glad it gave me the opportunty to practice with flaks because I'm not dissapointed in them.

but really.... flaks need a buff.... their good, but their not "helping" as the bombers wich are skilled can easyli stay 1.5-3k away (yes i snac your dread from 2.7k with ease, thank harcourt for enlightning me about this)
