I was disappointed.
It's a nice concept, but too linear IMO... Hard to describe. For one, it looks lopsided. So much action on one side, none on the other. I feel like the feathering on the render is too much. Cut him out a little sharper, the black haze against the sides of his neck is off-putting. Otherwise all I can critique is the color choice on the name, but that's your prerogative.
I like the color scheme and the makeshift armada of ships. Interesting idea, and it could look quite nice. The render is very good too.

Good critique, I appreciate it. Thanks for spotting the edges on the focal since I did that part in a rush. It's hard to balance sharpness on cut out edges because if they're too sharp blending would become difficult.
About the composition, eh, I thought hard about that. In the end I decided to settle with this or a clean original background. It may seem heavy on one side but that's just the contrast and shape which alludes you to think so. I'll post the original version soon enough, once I have time to find my files again.
Oh, the name's colour is based on Cryer Pharmaceutical logo scheme. Now you know why.
Anyway, I've said enough. Back to my inspiration chamber I go.
Nub sig by me. Image was from deviant art, Loken (I think) added an overlay to distort it slightly to hide the cartoonish look of the picture. I nabbed the Osprey Jinx's render thread and added engine trails. I also added the text.
So before you say I'm really good, I only did the crappy parts:D
1. Sharpen the ship
2. Remove the outter glow around it. With the glow it looks like it is hanging above the image (doesn't feel like it is part of the scene) Maybe make it a little smaller, the composition is focusing on the character, not on the ship. So, it is ok to leave some space unused.
3. 1px black border (center)
4. Make a copy of the character and blur it with 1 ir 1,5px Gaussian blur. Place it underneath the original character. Sharpen the original character a little, using bush option and use Dodge Highlights on it to give some volume. (don't overdue the dodging)
5. Have a cookie and tell yourself: "daaamn, i am good..."

Do an overlay of the original colours of Bretonian flag, then return the lower half of the girl's body. While you're at it, blur the edges of the girl a little. Sharp cuts are quite obvious and not so pleasing to the eyes.
If you haven't already, do a thin inner glow and a 1 or 2 px stroke on the background insignia.
