It was a simple, easy task. Spy on Java station, see what there is to see, and report back to Kempeitei headquarters. A nice change of pace from looking at intelligence reports all day. Actually being the one to collect the intelligence was definitely more exciting then just looking at the intel, if a bit riskier.
About tie risky part. Using active sensors to see farther was a mistake. Combine that with not looking at the sensors, instead staring at a zoomed-in picture of Java station. By the time the warning about an incoming EMP torpedo was heard, it was too late to do anything about it.
The electromagnetic weapon slammed into the military-spec Eagle. Shields shattered as the computer spat out sparks and caught fire, while the powerplant began to shut down. Reacting quickly, the girl dropped a few screamer mines while yanking the throttle forward.
But by then it was too late. The cold gas side thrusters sputtered and died down from a lack of power. Similarly, the main engines choked as well, as if being strangled by an unknown aggressor.
Lights within the ship dimmed and then turned off entirely. Grapple hooks slammed into the Eagle as it was towed into a dark, unknown location for what seemed like an eternity. Finally the ship's exit door opened, reveling a strange, dimly lit hangar bay with equally strange figures standing inside.
There was a glint of steel as the girl uselessly swung a blade at one of the figures. This was followed by a flash of lightning and a loud, bright explosion. After that, suddendly everything went black.
A full day ahead awaited Kaze. The daughter of a Blood Dragon felt the blood tingling with excitement and dread. Even her former LSF training was somewhat shorthand in the Taus. War, love and death awaited her each day.
A contact, an order and a revelation dawn on her before the patrol ended.
She watched her new found charge sleeping in the high security med bay...
"What can i do to make you loose your tongue, Kempeitai?"
She thought. And a idea sprang to her mind. She picked her portable data pad and asked for a free Colonial Atlas. As she finished the message, she grinned to the sleeping beauty.
"We will have a blast.." She laughed mischievously.
Her thoughts raced from the rage of the injustice committed by the Kusari emperor and the the now case of espionage on Tau-23.
"Good for ones and bad for others, eh? You will learn what justice is on my book..." She walked away waiting for the doctors gave Akane a full medical pass.
Blackness. Inky blackness. That's all the girl could see. She struggled to move an arm, a finger, anything. But her body would not respond. She could feel hands reaching out to grab her, pulling on her, groping her, grabbing her from all sides. There was an intense pain in her leg, as though it was being pulled apart.
She screamed, and found herself in a hospital room. She could move again, but her leg was still just as painful. One of the doctors shined a bright light into her eye, asking her questions about how she was feeling.
An intense drowzyness overwhelmed her, and she fell back asleep.
"Hmmmmph.. I don't care doc, i'll stay here." Kaze replied hearing the doctor nagging her head to stay away from the prisoner.
"She needs the rest." He said once more.
"She needs to answer." Kaze answered with a voice filled with dread as the sound of a katana leaving her sheat as the background tune.
The doctor gulped and thought: "This Flight Lieutenant is even more crazy than the regular 44th guys."
An hour turned into several and Kaze never left the side of the sleeping Akane.
It was a long, restful sleep. Akane yawned and stretched as she began to wake up. Or, at least try to. She was tied to something. A chair. A large, comfy chair, ruined by the ropes that held her tight.
Akane blinked. The area she was tied up in appeared to be the bridge of a starship. Lights and computer consoles were everywhere. The ship's viewscreen showed an expanse of black space, dotted with tiny stars. A girl with pinkish-blonde hair was watching her.
The details of the botched recon mission sprang to mind as Akane realized that she was being held prisoner. She glared at the girl, daring her to make a move.
Kaze moved her head close to the Kempeitai and sniffed. Her face was of pure delight.
"Rage... Fear.. I like it. Feeling better, Kempeitai spy? I do hope you're feeling comfortable. This will be a bumpy ride." Kaze grinned as she spoke these words. She sat at the pilot's seat and started all the necessary procedures to start the ship.
"Tee? Get connected to all of these primary and secondary systems. You have the comm. Start the undocking sequence and head us to Tsushima station. And don't forget to broadcast on system wide channels in Kusari that this is a Colonial transport vessel." Kaze finished her moves and then looked at the tied up Kusari woman.
"So what's you're name?" She asked.
Silence was the only reply.
"Too bad. At least i wanted to know who was going to die at my side." She grinned.
Akane's eye bulged up and she thought: "She can't be this crazy."
Then she remembered the report on this woman. 'Crazy' Kaze Dagon was her nickname inside the 44th.
And for this lunatic, gun-ho unit to nickname her 'Crazy', then she was the Colonial equivalent to a Phantom on a rage trip.
Akane tried to calm herself down. This was not good...not good at all! Who knows what this...this...demon...will do next! And this buisness about entering kusari - that could not turn out well. Calm down, she told herself. There is nothing to fear if you have a cool head. Just breath steady, and...
She screamed. This was all too much! This was not a honorable way to die! Something had to be done, and...
A sharp pain shot up from Akane's leg. In her fit of rage, she forgot all about her injury. Well, she wasn't escaping with that leg. Even if she managed to break free from the ropes.
There was nothing that could be done expect for Akane to await her fate at the hands of this demon. Never in her life has Akane felt so helpless.
Kaze laughed fiendishly at Akane's shout filled with rage and desperation.
"Ahahaha.. Feeling already the pressure? It's too soon... I haven't done anything.... yet." Kaze was having a ball.
The full blown Atlas, with the =CR=Nightmare[ISE] transponder moved nicely out of the Java docking bay.
"So now.. After you feel more and more powerless do change your destiny.. What is your name, baka?" Kaze asked again.. With a animalistic grin.
Akane smiled. There was no point in being angry anymore. She was probably going to die here anyway, might as well make an impression. "Suzuki Akane, Socho within the Kempeitai" she said cheerfully.
Looking at the she-demon with a smile, Akane awaited whatever fate was coming.
Kaze suddenly unstrapped herself from the pilot seat and in a swift move, surprised the once calm Akane with a passionate kiss.
Akane's mind went blank with this sudden action and Kaze smiled as a little girl..
"Colonial Flight Lieutenant Kaze Nelson Reidman Dagon.. Your captor, your interrogator, your abuser and soon to be.. your worst nightmare. Love and Hate are the two best things in the world. And i'm expert on both." She laughed once more, and sat again on the pilot seat.
Akane was still in shock.
