Really, what is the point of Omicron-90 in Vanillancer? It's a whole lot of nothing (except for one empty planet) bathed in radiation. I do admit it's pretty... but Kappa's prettier (infinite green tunnel > pink clouds), has two dockable planets, and isn't irradiated.
Also, how come Lost isn't an exact clone of Sigma-17? The suns are there; but the nebula and asteroids vanished, and planet Kurile apparently turned into a purple giant.

There's a couple possible reasons. It might be based on an earlier version of Sig-17, or they could've just removed things that weren't necessary for the cutscene - though that wouldn't explain Kurile.
Omicron 90 acts as a natural barrier between the Outcast Nation and the Nomads. Who the heck would want to wade through that radiation in the search for something which may or may not be there?
Also: The scenery and "natural defenses" of the system pretty much confirms what some of the more... "religious" Outcasts believe the Nomads are.
All in all: I like Omicron 90, and removing it would be right off.
In Discovery if you wander into Omicron-90 without being invited, expect to meet some very large, very unhappy Keeper ships.
