Yuka Kaizoku was sitting in the luxury livingroom of her yacht. Seiji-kun could arrive any moment now, she had asked him to come over to talk about his latest invention. From what Yuka seen about it, it could be very useful for the kaizoku gang. Finally someone knocked on the door.
"Enter"
Seiji Akimoto walks in and greets his mistress.
"Take a seat and show me this invention of yours, Seiji-kun."
Seiji looked around the room: The huge aquarium, the desk, the panoramic windows... Then, he said to himself "Such a waste of money, meh..." He sat on the nearest seat he could see.
"I'm really proud of the efforts I'm putting on the project. Well, I should be honest with you, Yuka-sama... I started working on AvI two years ago... I must have told it you... but I didn't want to take unnecessary risks, meh... Nevermind..."
He was feeling uncomfortable in that place. Seiji knews about Yuka's mood, maybe she could get angry and shoot him on the leg or just... keep listenning.
"As you have seen, AvI could be defined as an aproximation of Artificial Intelligence, but can't think on its own... at the moment... The name is conformed by initials Advanced Virtual Intelligence... I spent a lot of time thinking on it, sounds cool I think *low laugh*"
Seiji took a datapad to read a note.
"Well, it can integrate on small ship computers so it can take control of the vessel in case the pilot got injured and fly it to safe place, it's awesome, don't it? But that's not all: Can monitorize and store data of another vessels, systems they fly on, trade lanes... Of course, I have two backups of AvI's memory, so if it get hacked, I can destroy that hacked module and restore AvI from the backups... Nearly indestructible..."
After Seiji stopped talking, Yuka waits for more. "is this all he has to say?" she thinks. When Seiji remained silent, Yuka cleared her throat.
"So basicly it's some sort of very advanced automatic pilot? It could be really useful of course... I might be interested to provide you with funds to improve this... AVI... is it?"
She suddenly stops talking and looks around.
"I'm thirsty, are you? Yuki-chan! Bring us 2 glasses and a bottle of wine, now!"
The muffled voice of Yuki sounds from the kitchen.
"Hai! Nee-sama."
"Now as I was saying, I might offer you financial support on improving the AVI. And as you see..."
Seiji stared at the aquarium; he could notice a few little crabs and a shoal of fishes.
"Never doubted money would be a problem... Honestly..." Looked at Yuka again.
"In case the money isn't a problem... I could advance to next step... By making a large upgrade in the internal module, AvI would be able to integrate on larger ships computers and... adding a new concept: Cyber-war. This means electromagnetic pulses that switch off trade lanes, ability to hack communications, take down shields... That could be reeeally awesome... isn't it?"
He put the datapad on the pocket.
"So, what do you think? Will you set green light to AvI's project?"
Two days after the talk, Seiji called Yuka so he could report the recent upgrades on AvI. One hour later, they both were on Seiji's room inside Barrier Gate Station.
"Konnichiwa Yuka-sama, well, I'm not going to waste time, just listen this..."
Seiji typed some codes on the main computer and a female voice sounded.
"Sounds cool, huh? AvI, execute parameter number nine on that laptop computer..."
Seiji pointed at the other corner of the room, where a laptop was turned on and showing some messages.
"Executing parameter 9... Done"
After that, the laptop switched off and made a little explosion.
"Incredible! It means AvI can hack electronic systems and make them collapse! If we use it on a ship computer... would be awesome! Of course it's the same for trade lanes...*Laughs*"
Then Seiji took his datapad and started to read again.
"Yuka-sama, as you've seen, AvI acts in according to a list of parameters, so if I say 'Execute parameter 9 on the objective', AvI will enable its hacking systems... Another example is the parameter number 14, which enables AvI's position tracking system... Well, I've been talking too much, so.. tell me, What do you think?"
After a hard work day on AvI, Seiji contacted Yuka via private comms. Again, they were on Seiji's room.
"About those books... I prefer reading on paper... Too much time reading the screen of a datapad isn't good... belive me, Yuka-sama"
Seiji switched on the main computer and typed some codes... AvI was online.
"AvI, show us both Coronado and Cortez data you've been tracking"
"Opening files... Done"
"Awesome, huh? Now AvI can monitor, analyze and store data about space systems, trade lanes, ships... Tomorrow I'll start programming the most complex part of this software... I mean, I'm going to make AvI autonomous... but don't worry! It will obey any orders coming from you or me..."
Seiji typed in the main computer's console and switched off AvI.
