I write this letter from a holding cell in the New Tokyo central jail. It seems after being attacked by a gaijin bomber pilot in New Tokyo, one of your officers approached, and when I told him what happened, he basically called me a liar, and in so, questioned my honor. Now, I am not proud of my word, but I am sure you can understand, as a man with honor, to be called a liar is an unbearable dishonor to myself and my family, and in a moment of anger, I may have lashed out at this officer that was dishonoring me, with my words. As you can see from the transcript provided below, the officer in question was clearly looking for a fight, and came into the situation questioning my word. Unfortunately, I feel that no matter how I reacted to this situation, I would still be sitting here in this holding cell, as it seems that this officer was intent on a confrontation with me. I knew he was looking for some reason to attack me, which is why you will see, I offered no resistance to being placed under arrest. Had I given him even the slightest opportunity, I am sure he would have taken the chance to kill me.
I do understand my wrong in this situation, and I will serve whatever sentence the Shogun sees fit, but I would also ask you to look at the transcript in front of you, and decide if that is the way you want your officers to treat lawful Kusari citizens.
I await your word here in my cell.
Tai Takata, The Emperor's humble servant.

Konnichiwa Honorable Taishi Takata,
after reviewing the transcripts in question I feel we are handling a deplorable incident.
It is perfectly within your rights to defend yourself from attacks when there are no other options available and it is not encouraging to learn about the insufficient selection some Liberty companies apparently have in enlisting their operatives for escort missions, to attack targets unprovoked in a foreign space is not an action that can be tolerated.
The attacker himself perished in this irresponsible and unexplained action while his wing leader was attempting to call him back in formation, clearly showing that this was an isolate action of one individual disobeying his orders.
I am close to your distaste.
Coming to the Niigata, the commanding officer mentioned this incident when we last talked and I can assure it was not his intention to dishonour you in any way.
He arrived on the scene on a later moment and he was doing his best to put together the informations the Niigata had concerning what just happened, also they were not aware of your presence aboard and they had no intention to put your ship under arrest until they were insulted.
He will be glad to learn that you understood your part of wrong in this matter, please accept his apologizes in return, along with this immediate order of release from jail.
