First capital ship

Hi, Ive been playing on Discovery RP 24/7 for a while now and only recently got to gether enough cash to buy my first capital ship. After reading up on 'So you want to buy a capital ship?' and reading various posts im left more than a little confused.

My aim was to get a bounty hunter Cap for use as a pirate hunter / bounty hunter.
Currently i am aiming for the Bounty Hunter Batlecruiser.

My main question is am i allowed to use this ship as an independant Bounty hunter, or do i need to be part of a specific guild?

and if i need to be in a guild, which one will allow me to use this ship and still hunt bounties and pirates?

Before anyone says, i understand that i cannot just open fire on any pirate i see and i understand the way an independant bounty hunter must RP.

All help is greatly appreciated. :D

:EDIT: Oh and a quick note, 2 friends have just informed me that they plan on creating a battlecruiser each in order for us to form a team of bounty hunters. The cash for this purchase is all their, we are just waiting for a response here as to our path of choice. Please reply soon if you can help us. thanks

Well, to use a bounty hunter cap you need a Bounty Hunters Guild Core ID:

Pilot carrying this ID is a member of the Bounty Hunter Guild Core, who :

* Can attack Order, Nomad or Wilde and anyone actively assisting them.
* Can destroy any ship produced by The Order, regardless of the pilot's faction affiliation.
* May operate anywhere in Sirius that the Bounty Hunter ID permits. However Cruisers and Battleships may only operate in the Omicrons, Omegas and Sigmas but may not enter Omega 3, 7, 11, Sigma 13, Omicron Gamma and Omicron Alpha.
* Can fulfil bounty contracts.
* Can demand allied pilots, Nomad technology and Nomad specimens from other ships and destroy ships if they refuse to hand them over (Cruisers or Battleships may demand pilots only).
* Cannot demand any other cargo or credits.
* Cannot ally with any unlawfuls
* Cannot participate in any unlawful action.

Allowed ships: Fighters, Freighters, Transports up to 4300 cargo, Gunboats, Prison Liner, Cruisers, Battleships

Carrying unmounted IDs in your ship, as well as not equipping an ID, is a serious crime.

As you can see, the ID restricts you from going a lot of places....

But no, there are no guild requirements for the vast majority of caps, just ID requirements (and ID's also require certain reputations, so there is that too) and for battleships, a Battleship License.

To use a BC for hunting pirates ?? Think it over again.
As stated above, the capital BH ships has severe restrictions on where they can operate. They are not used to hunt pirates, they are used in the ongoing war with the Order.

Secondly, if pirates came in ptrans to pirate, all you can do in that cruiser is to wave to them and say "Have a nice day. Oh and feel free to pirate anyone right under my nose, since I can't shoot at you".

Thirdly, the pirates are not stupid - They see a CattleBruiser there, they bring 2-3 bombers. And you will be toast, if you do not have fighter/gs cover to protect you.

If you want to hunt pirates as a bounty hunter, use a VHF, a GS or a GB. Not a Destroyer, a Cruiser or a Battleship.

You can freely buy it.

Like A&L guy said: BC is -not- for bounty hunting. It's a warship that happens to belong to the Bounty Hunters. Try an Orca or Bottlenose instead. no larger BHG caps. they are highly restricted to fit their rp purpose.

Thats what i was afraid of..... So wed have to use a gunboat to freely follow bounties.


After looking it appears all caps are limited in this way, restricted to systems by specific ID.

Oh well guess this ideas heading to the trash. Well try for a smaller force of gunboats/bombers/fighters or do something else entirely.

If you and your friends would like to give some capital ships a try, I'd first suggest avoiding Bounty Hunter ones, as major problems with BH capital ships have been encountered and are now severely restricted.

However there are factions that lack representation compared to others, most namely as of late I remember the Kusari Navy (though this may have been rectified I'm not sure). If you and your friends want to give some capships a try, I suggest asking around the server as to what factions could really use a few more capital ships and then pick a ship outta that class. You'll see a lot more action and you'll probably recieve alot more help in joining into RP and combat.

Just a suggestion though, if you are hooked on BH ships, go for it!

No, the man asks for info. And we reply. We tell him that what he is looking for, cannot be found in the ships he has an eye on. That has nothing to do with pushing anyone away. it's called giving advice to avoid a purchase that turns into a huge letdown for someone.

Anyways, There are already a multitude of BHG caps. (like how many battleships on the server total, 60?)
You could go to Kusari, Their cruiser is very manueverable and you can hunt pirates (in Kusari, Tau-23, and Sigma-13-19 with it)
