A gruff, large man appears on the screen. He has dark hair and eyes, and large hands. His nose looks like its been broken multiple times, and reset improperly. He has a small scar across one eyebrow.
"Weeell. It looks like some arsehole's put a bounty up on us, along with every other mining faction in Sirius practically. They've already popped four of our ships. Let's have a moment of silence for the crews that perished of the Hollowpoint, Lukas, SPL_NAGA, and the Brian Jomey."
He looks away from the screen for a moment.
"Ok, now back to business. Profits are up, again, in spite of the loss of these four ships. Good work, everyone, but don't think that gives you tha right to slack. The ships will be rebuilt or, in the case of the Brian Jomey and the Lukas, repaired. Much of the crews survived, thankfully. We'd just like to take a moment to remind everyone to make sure they're doing their bi-weekly escape pod tests. It saves lives, folks.
"Er... ah, and keep an eye out for these ships: Mining-Ship:Tea.Time, a Ptrans, and Gerard.Bugehagen, who's flying a gunboat. These are the bastards who killed our men.
"I'd also like to remind everyone of BMM's standard turret settings. These settings optimize defensive capabilities, while balancing them with mining capabilities.
"Turrets 1-6 and 9-10 should be things that do some damage. Whether it's type 4s, type 2s, or a mix of any and all of them, make sure that they'll do some hurtin'. The 7th and 8th turret slots should have the mining turrets in place.
//When mining, hit turret view (H by default) and shoot rocks until they're gone. Then go back to regular view, repeat, flip back to turret view, etc. The 7th and 8th slots should be able to shoot almost all the rocks, even though they are in the rear of the ship. These slots, however, are nearly useless to use in a fight, as they are the only ones that don't shoot forward.
"Also, remember, the more mining ships there are around, the safer it will be. A couple of mining ships with a good loadout can take down a gunboat, or at least make him think twice before trying to pirate you. But don't try it unless you're sure you can take it down. Your lives are worth more to this company than a couple million credits. And get some armor. Even the cheapy ones make a difference, and it's worth the loss in cargo space. They pay for themselves many times over every time they let you escape to the nearest safe haven with your cargo intact.
