My New Character Name

i have an idea for my new guy and i have a few questions

if you have read my Mon'Star story i created a group called "Grey's Gunners" that went after Mon'Star.

so if you haven't read it please do before reading further as i am going to be kinda giving spoilers.

My new character is the son of Gideon Grey. he uses a ship left over from the original Gunners fleet and a few of the surviving Gunners to help him pilot it.

ok so,

i have a name for the ship but how to i name the character to make it LOOK like the name of a ship instead of a nickname or callsign?

also is it ok if i kinda run my character as a sorta one man faction? the rest of my faction being onboard my ship? the Gunners were nearly whipped out by Mon'Star. the survivors banded together with Gideons son to continue on...blah blah blah...i'll prob start an ongoing story about it like i did with Mon'Star

1: Hmm, perhaps name the ship after a gun of some kind.
2: I don't see why not. What little RP I do with my FGS guys is similar.

no i mean what format should the name be in like:

G.G. Shipname

(GG) Shipname

Shipname.GG

that's what i meant, is there a rule to follow when name an actual ship? i'm trying to avoid the unsightly _ that comes with multiple words

Many options here. You could do what Verg does and do something like Charactername[Shipname], or you could do it like this: GGS-shipname (GGS standing for Gray's Gunners Ship, of course can be something different, just an example).

Or GGS.Shipname

Or GGS'Shipname

Or use a NC to get GGS Shipname

Or GGS`Shipname

Or something like that.

If its a capship I can help you pretty easily. For fighters though, there is no easy way to make it look like a ship name rather than a pilot name.

Ok, here is MY naming convention, if you see this around, its probably one of my ships.

Firstname.Lastname[Shipname]

example:

Roddy&Rita[JammyDodger]

Axel.Topf[Kormoran]

This has worked in the past and if you need to use it, go ahead.

Hmm.. You could do Liner.Name, or what I use Yacht-Name (Yacht-Adamantine). Things like that. Kind of depends what the name is.

Well... Name the ship something a person would never be called. For example, the HMCS-Magnificent. Firebird's ship. Definitely a ship name.

Not to derail this completely, but I think it would be nice if there were some naming conventions in use on the RP server for factionless ships. Examples:

IMS-Corinthian = Independent Merchant Ship "Corinthian"
MCS-SilverDream = Mercenary Combat Ship "Silver Dream"
NFS-Loki = Neutral Freight Ship "Loki"

I'm not saying the OP should use this format with that character's back story; I just think it would add a nice consistency if you saw a ship's transponder emitting "ITS-something" and knew that ITS meant Independent Transport Ship.
