This I think is a bug issue but I thought I'd start a new thread.
I've tested the swarm missile pod with help from Nesa (thanks!) and... whoooaaa! Hold on a moment, this thing is rather powerful and I'm not sure it's doing what it's supposed to. Check this out..
It requires a gun mount, but has no class rating, meaning any fighter can mount 4, 5 or even more. It uses no energy, and has unlimited ammo. It can fire 33 missiles a second which seek like a cruise disruptor, each doing 195 hull and 97 shield damage, with a range of 4500m. It even made Nesa's Marsflyer look weak.
For a fighter with 6 of these mounted, that's 38610 hull damage, unavoidable, from great distance *per second*. Blimey. *like a cruise disruptor* yes you read correctly. Battleships will be mostly immune but it would take down any other ship very quickly.
I suspect this weapon should use ammo, as it appears in my ammo screen as 'Swarm Missile Ammo' and shows zero (0) but will still fire. I haven't seen any base selling swarm missile ammo though, but did note the sidewinder torp previously being incorrectly labelled as swarm ammo.
I also suspect, as it doesn't have a class rating, that it should require a torpedo mount, and not a gun/missile. I would also advise making it more expensive, on a par with Inferno and Nova.
Igiss, I suggest this is given urgent attention before unleashing this deadly weapon on TLR. I also suggest existing Discovery pilots agree a treaty to only use it for testing purposes until fixed.
Many, many Nomads were harmed in the testing of this weapon.

bandersnatch - Ruthless criminal possessed by a (huge) alien
Shredder - Small-time Kusari pirate, looking to join the Blood Dragons
"Bounty Hunters. We don't need that scum." - Admiral Piett
Cause I've already sent the file to TLR. Perfect, yeah? They don't have it published, and as long as I had to give the link to our downloading site instead of attaching the file itself (google didn't want to upload file that large), there's still a chance that they'll get an updated version.
An updated version you say? Second patch? Yes, second patch.
It was just one line of code, that gave Swarm an ability to mount on both torpedo and gun slot. I never noticed, cause I've always tested Swarm on ships where all gun slots were occupied.
Now we've got everything actually screwed up, with a large flaw in the balance that I had to fix, no other choice, and need to update once more, with already three modifications of 4.78 available on different computers.
Well you can fix it yourself, without even need to download the patch... go to \DATA\Equipment and find weapon_equip.ini, open it, scroll to the very end, you'll see a section called

Where were you while beta testing?

Igiss, I can understand you being a bit disappointed. There doesn't seem to be that many of us actively involved in testing. To be fair though as Dab has said already, testing involves spending large amounts of $$$ especially when changing ships. My daedalus character tonight at one point was completely skint and Nesa had to drop Nomads so I could afford to buy nanobots.
This line will solve one issue, but will it solve the unlimited ammo? Even one on its own is powerful. It might be better to completely disable it for now?

That's a standalone weapons_equip.ini with needed changes. Overwrite the one from Freelancer game folder, don't forget to remove 'read only' status from the file you'll be overwriting.
Well, about the swarm... i found that those are not powerful enough (or maybe there is a problem with my fl instalation)...
I fired like 2000+ to a hammerhead,... with no effect!
(If you find any mistake in my English, please let me know via a PM)
(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
Major thing was that you could mount this thing on any ship, as it was classified as level one gun. Like Justice MkI, ridiculous.
That was my fault of course, I should've checked and re-checked the code taken from another mod ten times before releasing (the issue with chainguns had the same cause). I actually did reduce the power of a Swarm, especially its power agains shields. But overlooked the issue with its classification, unfortunately.
Why did I release this quick fix? Well, imagine a middle-class ship like Crow (capable of equipping level 8 guns max) with lots of gun slots - Crow has 8 for guns and 2 more for turrets. So, 8 swarms plus one more in a torpedo slot. What will be left of a more expensive and sophisticated ship after it engages this Crow? Dust, dust...

Perhaps something wrong with your installation. I killed hundreds of Nomads (they come in large numbers in Omicron Major) with just one swarm, I didn't even have to aim or bother using the class 10 chain guns. It can take out a Nomad gunboat in a second, from well out of range of the gunboat. Fighters were queueing up to die very quickly.
Igiss, I'm not getting a file from the link you posted at the moment.
EDIT: OK! enjoy your sleep, it must be early morning there, I'm about to turn in too.

I said the same to Nesa ;)
On balance, a swarm would probably do about the same damage as a Nova in the time it takes the Nova to hit, as the Nova travels more slowly. The difference here is that Nova requires a torpedo and does not track the target like the swarm, and I don't believe Nova has the range. So I'd say it's about 4 or 5 times more powerful than the Nova at the moment, unless the new ini file changes that. What does the ini file do?

Come on, guys. that can be both true and a bunch of bull.
When we first set up the 4.78 box, it was loaded with a BETA release. it has *NO* users whatsoever.
We could have given anyone and everyone $400 mil and let you guys play with it.
Igiss, from here on out, why don't we seet up a beta server, and test any new bug fixes on it using dummy accounts ?
