Here are the problems I have found over the past couple of days:
Scenario one:
I buy a BHG ID at Rostock, fly into Omega-56 and buy the BHG Bomber, one problem though, I need to have the ID attached to buy the ship.
So I buy it, I'm not stuck with no ID, Capetown only sells one ID, one I do not have the rep for. So I have to fly 20k to the JH, then to Omega-15 to land at Rostock to buy my BHG ID back.
Scenario two:
I have the Zoner Guard ID, I buy a Fearless, again, it takes my ID away when I buy the ship. Now I am stuck on Lividia with no ID. To get the Zoner Guard ID, I must fly to Corinth, which is inside a minefield, which I've already been through once to get the ID.
Notes: Imagine having the Zoner Guard ID, buying the Aquillion in Baffing and having to fly all the way to Omicron-74 with the wrong/no ID, just to navigate your new carrier around the minefield some more.
Scenario three:
I buy a new unlawful Gunboat for my Phantom in thier Guard system, to buy it, I had to sell my Phantom ID, which means I now need to request an Admin places one back on there so I can leave and use that ship.
P.S, If an Admin reads this, Silent.Valentine needs a Phantom ID please, check the reps, they are all still ninja'd, the ship just has no ID
Scenario four:
I buy a Rogue Werewolf with an LR ID, on an LR base, this is fine because I have the rep to buy the ID back, this isn't a problem, the above, all are.
Solution?
Allow the system to buy the ship if you have an ID in your hold that allows that ship. If that is at all possible.
This means we can move across the ID to the new ship, and it will allow it. This also means if I want a DSE Liner, I can buy the Liner with my OSC ID in my hold, and use my DSE ID to fly it, which is illegal, but you can do that anyway by buying it with an OSC ID and replacing the ID.
If there is no way to fix this, then I think it best maybe the system is disabled, or re-considered, because it has cost me, the player, over a couple of days, alot of hassle. In alot of situations, these could have been picked up and misunderstood, I could be sanctioned for something that isn't my fault.
No flamey arguements about abolishing this, just constructive discussion about whether all this work is really worth it?
The reason it takes your ID away, is because U R DOIN IT RONG.
When you enter the ship purchase screen, you see the ID from the old ship in the right hand side.
You transfer it back to the new ship, before finalizing the purchase.
You need to go to the correct tab in the left hand side, in order to transfer it back.
Otherwise the shipdealer thinks you want to use the value of the ID (and of all the items on the right hand side) against the purchase price of the new ship.
I am currently on my Angel and talking to a person who tries to buy a Shetland with a Planetform ID, which seems not to be working. He also tried it with a Bowex ID and is still not able to buy the Ship he would like to buy on Scarabough.

' Wrote:Tried that, it won't let me buy the ship with the ID unequipped, which is the only way to move it across...
I never said you should UNEQUIP the ID. Keep it mounted, go into the shippurchase screen.
The shipdealer will automatically unequip it and put it in the right hand side of the purchase window.
Before finalizing the transaction, transfer it back to the left side of the purchase window, on the correct tab for the ID mounting.
It will then transfer, and you can even mount it there, before pressing the purchase button.
' Wrote:With the ID equipped, it won't let me transfer it, I've tried this several times... It just won't let me do it.
You are doin it rong. Again.
Step by step :
1) Have the ID mounted as per normal.
2) Visit the shipdealer.
3) Select the ship you want to buy.
4) Upon entering the purchase screen, you will see the friendly shipdealer have moved stuff to the right side, taking them as exchange for a reduction in price. This stuff is stuff that could not be mounted on your new ship, and the existing shields + ID.
5) On the left hand side, you see the new ship's equipment tabs and cargo hold. Change the view to the tab which hold the ID normally - AFAIR it is the Shield screen.
6) Click on the ID on the right hand side. then click on the transfer arrow in the middle, to transfer it back to the new ship - In effect taking it away from the goods the shipdealer takes in exchange for a reduced price.
7) If it doesn't mount automatically, click on the mount icon on the ID when it is on the left hand side. It should mount.
8) Finalize your purchase by pressing Buy Ship.
I have just tested it with both BHG and Phantom ships, no problems whatsoever. Make sure the ID is
mounted, by clicking on the icon to lock it in place before purchase.
