I was doing this clash scene for Robert D'Souza new sig.
My idea was to make this engagement of Order vs nomads, taking place in new edge system filled
with the light of a dying sun and with the "camera" resting above this large inhabitable planet being
burned with some large sun eruptions. I also wanted to define this boundary between two sides more
clearly so I've added some distant asteroid fields behind sun. To get feeling how "hot" it is in there,
I've drawn some... burning particles (don't know how to define it) being deflected by ship shields while
ship's front is being white hot.
All in all, I wanted to create this very hostile environment with inevitable conflict going on...
@Cheshire I drawn them intensionally small, ships are not important that much but whole concept
@what do you care? What is Order most specific thing, if it is not Ossie, than I dont know what it is... it's not small engagement with few fighters, more like battleship engagement. And second thing is, theoretically, fighters would not survive in this kind of environment.
@Ebon It's not explosion, it's sun, and sun is not that small that can fit between ships... its far away from ships in distance
I think your artwork skills are brilliant. But, I don't think this is one of your best. The Osirises look kinda squashed. Personally, it doesn't quite catch my eye as a signature. Great art nonetheless.
Just to add to that: the way you have drawn the ships suits light craft more than caps. I just can't really imagine caps racing in at breakneck speed. I imagine caps as slow, lumbering powerhouses. (Even the Osiris)
How come you don't understand it, it's the clash of eternal enemies, marching towards each other in battle. Ossie turned out very good, especially the effects on it as entering sun corona.
With some more interesting font, and maybe framework around it, it would be epic banner for Order I think.
edit: but true what birdy says, maybe ossies won't be marching in like that, still looks cool to me.

orders most specific thing is the fact that they are a hidden organization of spies, that don't need large battleships, but small craft that are able hide behind an asteroid. remember vanilla ("BUT THIS IS NOT VANILLA!" , yeah yeah just like outcasts didn't cure themselves of cardi and just like the blood dragons didn't manage to take over kusari, so did the order remain a rather secret movement). well in vanilla they had 1 ( in words: ONE ) battleship and a decent amount of UNDERCOVER agents around sirius. an osiris parked at cali isn't exactly undercover.
ps:
well. at least iRP, they are. in the sad disco reality, order has more capital ships than the rest of sirius combined, but that is another matter)
edit: btw i still think the sig is nice but - less caps, more small craft. and you can use MORE MODELS of small craft!! great, huh?;)
The nomies don't seem to look like they're going in the same direction as the ossies, which just makes it look chaotic and... "unstraight"... for lack of better word.
I suggest you also fill in the space with MORE ships (if you insist on ossies, then go for it), so that it would look more epic, and you make it clear where the ships are going to engage.
Also, it looks like the ossies are coming from the lower-left corner, while the nomies on the opposite. I also suggest making the viewer feel like he's going into battle along the order against the Nomies... or at least closer to them... a fiddling of better depth is more like it.
