The in-game pictures that are linked in AoM's post look better than the ones visible in her post. I do think it has a some strange things going on like the wing tip engines and too many wings/fins. But, I like the direction and I like it better than the dragonflies.
"To gain a hundred victories in a hundred battles is not the highest excellence;
to subjugate the enemy's army without doing battle is the highest of excellence."
Quote: Are Verg, Morrigan and I the only ones that like it?
No. I like it, what a surprise;) and Dragan likes it very much too. Time to remind it is Dragans model. He made the basic design as you can see at the beginning of this thread. It was just me, who layed his hands on the model for finalizing the design and to do the skinning job.
The ship is not big. It is bulky and massive, because of its proportions, but i repeat its not big.
Oh and believe me, some people will like it too as soon as they will fly it, because it has character. It is not everyones taste and it shouldn't. Look for vanilla fighters. If any modeler would present a model like the Crusader or the Wolfhound today, he / she will be flamed, ha plasmed, for. because they are so ugly in my pov.
Some slightly changes might be possible, but not in general.
it looks good. no, - its not a beauty, but it looks very good in what i expect a ship to look like. there are the basics and not much more about it. no useless antennas, no fins that are just attached to make it look streamlined.
my first impression was: cheap ( in terms of it does look easy to maintain, - very much in contrast to the dragonfly ships ), it does look solid the way i expect military hardware to look as they don t need to win a beauty and design contest and it looks small imo ( guess i m the only one thinking of it as a VERY small ship ).
that comes from the fact that its a two seater and the canopy taking up well around 1/3 of the ship length.
my feeling would tell me that is a heavy fighter with outstanding stats for its class ( not that its difficult to have outstanding stats for heavy fighters, which generally suck ) - but an allmost unbeatable price.
Ps.: and yes, those boxes on the wingtips look strange. the original FL ships don t have huge thrusters, too. thrusters are usually just little boxes attacked somewhere, but for a main engine they do look a bit small and "not-part-of-the-ship". unless the whole ship is modular. they do look like the shipyard build the whole ship - and in the end realized they forgot ....... the engines! - so they just attached 2 external engines to the wingtips:laugh:.
I have replaced the engines on the wing tips with fuel tanks. Should these tanks have BW panels as a skin or what might you suggest?
The Halberd can be a single torp slot Bomber, capable to fire the supernova, but i think Red Hessians might get their hands on the Falcata Bomber from Outcasts, since they are allied.
The Halberd could replace the Hessian Stilettos with maybe 4 level 8 guns and two level 9 guns to counter Corsair Centurions.
Personally, since it's a two-seater I see it either as a VHF to replace the Sabre, or as a bomber with two torp slots like the rest of 'em. (are there bombers with single torp slots? o_O)
