Hey, as I mentioned many times before I am trying actively to push a lot of players into official factions.
As you can see the madness manifesting in some forum members now, it is clearly a good time to point out to an example of what a faction member can do and what can an independent player do.
When it comes to breaking the Order - Corsair alliance there's a lot of details to discuss, but let's just hypothetically say that neither Order officials or Corsair officials were too interested in acting together.
Even though Order appreciated the Tizonas and Corsairs appreciated.. capships in gamma? the things are falling apart and leaving a lot of people angry.
Indies can shut up and realize that they have no saying in the politics of the faction they remotely belong to.
Players belonging to official faction have themselves to blame and their leader. Perhaps it is time to change the leaders if you are unhappy about this.
As an official faction member you have a right to voice your concern about the situation at hand, and provided you get the majority of votes you can probably push your ideas ahead, even though your leader disagrees.
However, if your ideas are ignored there's another option of forming your own official faction and battling the goals of the other official faction. This way you can maintain the liberty and actually achieve something provided your roleplay is correct.
However, should you decide you can't be assed with either, you will continue to suffer consequences of other people's actions. Such as losing your precious Tizona guns. In the end situation boils down to "either participate or shut up"
Sure, there's a 4th option. Be such a good roleplayer and individual that you are invited into some sort of governing entity like laowai is in the Council of Corsair Elders. Either way, options are pretty clear, go join a faction.
