Expansion, Delivery, and Settlement discovery AI number 24. EdelS, for short, is an artificial intellegence originally sent to sirus by an unknown race, to examine if any of the planets were of the type needed for colonys, or were close enough to be terriformed to match the needs of its creators. Arriving after a long partial hibernation in its cruise state, the Entity arrived in the inverness system. However, no instructions were being broadcasted. Its creators, had fallen silent in the years of its travel to the sector. After roaming for a year, closer to the sun, its directives to self preservation were to be fufilled, after reciving no further data. It entered a hibernation state, to ensure its protection.
800 years have passed. The vessal, long dormant, has been ravaged by time, leaving most of its data damaged or corrupted beyond repair. Inverness, now populated by a small group of junkers at invergordon. Due to the lack of salvage resourses in the system, however, exploration has gone mostly untended, aside from a few enterprising souls. One of these souls, happened to find the Entity on the edge of the star's planetary orbit. Unable to resist, the junker moored his CSV to a section of the hibernating entity.
Through his travels, not having ever seen anything like what he was witnessing, curiosity got the better of him. Proceeding to explore this thought to be derelict vessal, through passageways clearly never intended for human forms. The vessal was oddly cramped, and few passageways were evident, all leading to the core in some way or another. Fate was sealed for the young junker, who could not resist attempting to restart the thought-to-be derelict vessal, and its small reactor. As power coursed through the myriad of wiring and miles of optical cable that was still intact, the Entity was soon coming out of hibernation, heralded by the rotation of the vessal to match the astral plane of the system, and dragging the moored CSV of the junker to a position behind it.
At this point fear took hold of the junker, as he squirmed as fast as he could down the hallways, the cables previously inactive starting to tingle with raw energy coursing through them. Making it to the only opening, the junker followed the cables to his CSV, cursing his luck, and failing to notice its position. Casting off the lines he slammed the canopy down and activated cruise, attempting to return to invergordon at best speed. It was at this point the Entitys massive engine flared to life, the heat damaging the engines of the junkers vessal. Fortunatly for the junker, the second engine did not activate, due to the ravages of time, and thus allowing him to live. However, his ship now capable of only impulse, he did what any junker worth his ship would do. Setting up his computer, he tried hailing the derelict. A ping response, not in a language of any sirus origin. Keeping his ship matching the limping derelict, he kept working at the problem, finally getting the idea to rig his life support system up to the derelict. Managing a makeshift air-tight section of coridor, he used all his knolege and remaining parts to forge a livable, if cramped, section.
Riding the derelict, he began to try to figure its workings, using his computer. Finally, the responses stopped being ping responses, and slowly became legible sirrian text, through a series of guessing games between Entity and junker. However, one problem remained, how to get home. The junker, out of desperation, began to try to use the voice communicator, desperatly searching for an answer of another of his kind. The response he recived was however, not the one he expected. The Entity had finally responded, and understood. with trial and error, he eventually used logic to convince the entity to cease its search for usable resourses and return him to invergordon spaceport, in return for maps to resourse-rich areas of sirus, which the Entity obviously needed, and how to acess the sirus network.
Thus begins the search of the Entity, EdelS-24, searching for salvagable parts to regain its function. However, its goal does not stop there. Key to its programing is self preservation, but once the Entity has regained its full capabilities, it was to carry out its primary function, searching out teraformable planets. However, before doing so a method of reporting back was needed. Due to the distance, the Entity calculated it was possible the transmission was out of range. Somthing to get it closer to its source was needed. However, due to the degradation of its function, the data of where its source was, or how far, was no longer acessable. The only data available was that it was beyond the range of visual distance, past the horizon of stars. It must search for the one thing it is able to use to return to its source. A way to return across lightyears in a fraction of the time. It needed, though not known to the Entity, a sublight drive even more powerful than that on the sleeper ships.
Due to this, it first had to repair its capabilities, and took to roving scrap feilds and warzones for salvagable equipment it could use to either repair or replace damaged systems.
