What is Project "Herucles"?
During the 80 year war a small group of scientists tried to artifical alter the human DNS to creat a stronger human. Of course they failed but the datas about the experiments were brought to a secret loaction.
As Rheinland was invaded by the Nomads a key person opened the doors of the research centers for them. While most of the documents werent intersting for the nomads the Hercules project was used to start experiments on humans. Nomad cells were used to complete the human body and allow the host to survive in oxygen low areas for at least 80 hours. After the first trys critical failed one of the creatures survived the test phase.
Its still unknown today who attacked the secret research station and destroyed most informations but all what was left of the project was moved to the more secure Alaska system.
After the war all documents of such related experiments or researches were destroyed by the Houses but a small group of high ranked military personel secured the Hercules datas for later use.
With the foundation of the MND (or former BDM) a secret and selfsufficent organisation with enough rescources to run several classfied projects steped into the light. The Hercules project was reopened and under high restrictions a small base on the RNC-Lost.Dreams was established. After the MND directors realised that Rheinland space wasnt safe enough for such a research the Lost in Dreams ( so pilots called her) were stationed in the Omega 11 system far away from the known patrol routes of Daumann and Hessains. Protected by raditation and a small asteroid belt the ship was cloaked for unwanted visitors.
Rheinland Military was kept in the dark to allow more free research and only high ranked MND members as well as the Kanzler were informed about the projects on the RNC-Lost.Dreams.
//I will maybe edit the background infos a bit on a later date. For now they just serve to explain how the stuff ,which is mentioned in the story, could have started. Nothing of the above mentioned ever happened ingame or is described anywhere (at least to my knowledge)
oh and please please im not a a native english speaker so dont flame me for mistakes I might did while writing. I alrady corrected as much as I could but I guess there are still some mistakes left.

Ok enough ooc now lets start with the story.
Omega 11 System 72 hours ago ....
Slowly the 3 eagles moved through the asteroid belt next to the Stuttgart gate. Dietrich checked his map over and over again while Katrin leaded the wing to the last waypoint. Katrin: "Dietrich watch out or your gonna die out here!"
He looked up from the small system map on his display and was barly able to evade the 2 asteroids infront of his ship. It was a dangerous area and no one of the pilots had an idea why they were out here.
[color=#FFFF00]Dietrich: "Wow Knapp, thanks Katrin. 2 seconds later and you could collect the debris of my fighter around here. This eagle is a fly'in brick I would rather pilot one of our Valkyries or a Wraith out here."
Katrin: " Of course, but we have to follow the orders we get and if they say fly an eagle then we will do. Ok we reached the last waypoint get ready. "
She pushed a switch on her helmet and contacted the Wewelsburg. Katrin:"Sir the path is clear. Transport "Stille Nacht" can proceed."
The 3 eagles waited for the 2 ships to arrive. Slowly the cruiser moved through the asteroid belt followed by an Rheinland armored transport. The wing went into escort position broadside of the cruiser and moved towards another asteroid belt.
Kapit?n Neumann stood infront of his command seat and checked some new orders from New Berlin. Neumann: "Hell this mission is really boring, plaing babysitter for a transport ... pfft ... I would rather go back to Hamburg and fight of some Liberty warships."
Headshaking he sat down on the chair and checked the scanner datas of the recon wing.
The system was quiet, no hessains, no other ships at all.
Katrin checked something on the map as a light flashed trough the cockpit. Katrin: "God lord did any see this too?"
Dietrich: "Katrin I guess we have a problem. Unknown contacts are aproaching." Katrin: "Wewelsburg command we got some unknown contacts moving in fast please advice."
Neumann looked up from the small display on his seat.
Through the window the whole bridgecrew could see the 3 lights appearing far ahead and closing in fast.
They were dancing around the "Stille Nacht" and suddenly disappeared again. Only 3 seconds later a scream was heared. So loud, so painful that most of the crew members were falling to the ground. As it seemed the scream was not coming over the communication channel but appeared in their heads.
This event didn't last long only few seconds after it had started it was gone again, but the nightmare just had started. Neumann: "Everyone alright? Get me the "Stille Nacht" now!" Erich: "Stille Nacht here sir whats the problem?" Neumann: "Didn't you heared it? Didn't you saw the lights?" Erich: "Sir? What you mean?"
As Neumann was about to answer the engines of the "Stille Nacht" failed and the ship started to drift away.
The scanners showed strange readings. Neumann: "Erich? Erich! Hell whats going on over there? Can you hear me?"
Suddenly another voice appeared. Silke: "Here is the Lab! Kapit?n Neumann you hear me? They brocke lose! We lost them. They are everywhere. Send a team over here we need to catch them again they...... oh my god..... noooooooo".
Then there was nothing but silence. The temperature of the core was already critcal.
Before Neumann could react the armored transport was blown into pieces by the detonation of the reactor core.
The recon wing was ordered to search the debris for a hint of what had happened. Katrins fighter was next to a part of the former lab as she heared a dump sound from above her cockpit. Something was crawling over her fighter and she could see a human like shadow. Katrin: "Oh my god. Something landed on my fighter! I cant ....." Another dump voice and all systems failed. Reactor was showing an overload, life support was offline. She tried to escape but the pod didn't start.
Then the eagle was ripped appart by the core detonation. Immendatly Dietrich moved closer to Katrins last known location and only seconds after he found the debris of her eagle the same happened again.
In the meantime diffrent decks aboard the Wewelsburg reported strange sounds from the outside. Only 40 minutes after the first explosion all contact with the Wewelsburg and her escort ships was lost and no information ever reached Solarius or the MND HQ.
"Since the begin of this operation the Wewelsburg played the most important part. Lose it and your gonna lose your head!"
