I posted this model in the the Dev thread and got really strong support. I had enough people ask me to submit it, so I don't think it will hurt to do so.
I would really like some replies from people in the LN who will be the main operators of this vessel.
I can't do many changes to it at the moment but feel free to make comments on change you might want to see in the future.
Gimme a few to stare at the pic like it were pr0n, and I'll come back with suggestions.
- Ok, the dual bridge towers. Delete them. Smooth it off were they're at. They serve no real purpose other than to make it a little taler, and to snag rocks.
- The side mounted bay doors, looks great! Plus in a head on engagement, the way theyre inset into the hull, a round wouldnt penetrate (not so in broadside, but then caps tend to head on or run the targtet.
- Detail. This is the biggest ship of the biggest house (I dont count gallia, they're not part of RP). It should be special. Amidships have a transparent section of the hull (in the form of windows) were if you look into them, you see the texture from the interior of bio domes. Bascly a garden on the ship. It'd essently be a small little detail showing how it's so damned big they got their own garden.
-Not really too much else to suggest, just make the texture lighter, more of a match for the vanilla liberty caps.
its a good ship - and a tough one to balance. - but not in term to balance in terms of fairness - but in terms of differentiating from the dreadnought.
while the current carrier has a distinct different shape, it wasn t hard to apply really different stats to it. - its compact look, its large profile instantly made it a "heavy" battleship.
now - liberty "suffers" from the fact that the current dreadnought is both - a very small battleship... with ( compared to custom battleships ) exceedingly high stats ( i mean: extremely high hitpoints + medium powerplant .... if it had been a BHG battleship of the same size / shape - it d had mako stats ( low armor, low power ) for sure )
why is that a problem?
the one you present here is longer - but not much different in shape. thats a good thing in terms of contunuity of design - and bad in terms of "soo, how will it be different?"
by the looks of it, i d say - a little more armour, but hardly a heavy powerplant to be honest. - and thats not enough to justify a whole different ship.
on the other hand we got examples of strange shapes / stats. - outcasts: their DN is heavy and has more armour than their battleship - but i m not entirely sure if the DN is even larger or actually smaller than their overlarge battleship ( but then the battleship is a thin stick, too )
thin and long ships are somewhat troublesome. saying "but look, it is very long" doesn t make it heavy. arguing with a factions lore is problematic, too - if that was the case, the jinkusu would probably have 32 turrets ( and defeat enemies by crashing the server )
additionally - since it liberty, a house that was and still is ( and probably will be ) very popular .... balance is more important than many other factions ( and don t say, make it SRP only - we shouldn t really start such arguments for every battleship ) - so i wonder what balance propositions are being made.

I can tell you from Hardpointing the Dreadnaught, it's practically the same size as the Battleship. The Dreadnaught is a lot thicker and generally feels heavier but their front profile and length are very similar. Judging from the new model, it looks like the OC Dreadnaught will be serving as a Carrier as well in 4.86.
This is an old render of a previous version of the Lake Huron next to some other ships, I'm not sure if this will help ease some of the problems about it's classification. It is very large.
It's easy enough to resize a ship during texturing, as long as it doesn't look too bad. Remember that the main thing we want is for it's width to be about the same as the current carrier.
As Mjolnir said, if we replace the Carrier with a thing and long ship, we just create a second Dreadnought, which is pointless.
However a carrier is more of a support vessel than combat.
So make most of it's guns broadside only.
Example:
If the gun is mounted on the top left.......
that gun can NOT fire fully starboard,
it can fire about 20degrees downwards to the left
It can angle 20 degrees from straight up to starboard
Similar 20deg off angle for top starboard, bottom port/starboard
With most of it's firepower in broadside only, it would be VERY deadly in broadside (Read; almost over gunned sorta) BUT would also be rather weak becasue it would be open to fire for a period of time until it manuverd it's broadside to bear.
As people here already mentioned, this is rather problematic in terms of it's purpose in the mod.
Liberty Dreadnought is great at fighting other battleships. So what should this be good at?
It can't be better in fighting heavy ships than Liberty Dread, because then we are in the realms of Nomad Battleship.
So it could be more "allround" = more light turrets, more sideways turrets etc, not sure if that fits for this rather "smooth/slim" feeling model.
