In this thread we will discuss and coordinate the "Road to the Rheinland" event. The plan is to fight by the pre-planned roadmap of battles. The side that wins the battle moves forward, while the other side has to move backwards fot the next battle. We start in Frankfurt, continue to Dresden and finally move to New Berlin. Even if corsairs were able to win all battles (which is unlikely) the fight above Planet New Berlin will never happen and the story will end with Corsairs running out of supplies and having to return to Crete.
The battles will be weekly, Friday, 22:00 GMT.
Posting here is restricted to RM & SCRA high ranked members, Wraith members and TBH Elders ONLY!

We need to discuss this now:
1) Roadmap of battles (is it okay, too short/too long etc.)
2) The date of periodic battles (is friday 22:00 GMT okay?)
3) When do we start (this friday?)
4) Part of SCRA (they move through Stuttgart)
5) Anything more?
Well it's meant to. They probably would be able to as they could raid all those stations they passed. But tell me, how would you end the story if Corsairs won at New Berlin?
And I already promised we have no ambitions to rule the Rheinland after this event. But what are we even talking about, they'll probably kick our butts badly...:D
I added Wraith (Bundschuh) to the list. I think enabling them to appear sometime could spice it a bit. Anyone from the currently involved parties strongly against?

No, no Wraith, no Scythe, no Outcasts, no one else. Keep it to the TBH, RM and SCRA like how the RP was written.
Ok, I was working on some rumours for the Road to Rheinland part IV, which i posted on a different thread that no one took notice of. So here they are. Ill make one for each of the points we go to on the road map, relecting how far the Corsair fleet got to its objective. As it stands as a template, do these two look good?:
Quote:If we get quite far, then it should end up a bit like this:
With the securing of Sigma 13 and the threat from the north alleviated, the new Corsair northern fleet spearheaded by units from the Brotherhood smashed into Frankfurt and took the thinly spread Rheinland military and police units by surprise. The disarray this caused meant that Rheinland forces were knocked out in the area, while the Bundschuh base in the area suffered heavy damage. Coalition forces struck at the same time in Stuttgart, and military forces were pinned down, unable to retreat from the area. Corsair forces ravaged Frankfurt, and moved on to Stuttgart, where the hammer met the anvil and Rheinland military forces were wiped out. New Berlin proved very tough for the forces of Corsairs to crack, and the offensive ran out of supplies before the last Rheinland line could be penetrated. As the Corsairs retreated home to Crete, they passed through Dresden, knocking out the Hessians in the area and distrupting the diamond trade. Battleship Shwerin proved to much for the weakened task force to put out of action, and the partially successful offensive ended with the Corsair forces landing on Crete to regroup and resupply.
If we dont get very far, then it should end up somthing like this:
With sigma 13 secured by the Corsair forces led by the Brotherhood and the Hogosha diverting the Outcast's attention away from the area, an offensive into Frankfurt was underway. However, when the Corsair forces jumped, they were met with the full force of three Rheinland elite military divisions. The Corsair forces fought valiantly, but were slowly being whittled down. The Coalition forces started their attack and blitzed their way through Stuttgart to Frankfurt, to aid their comrades. Two of the three divisions of the Rheinland fleet were destroyed, and another one severely crippled. However, with no strategic momentum, and a badly damaged force themselves, what was left of the Corsair force withdrew to Omicron Gamma to lick their wounds. Rheinland was prepared for the attack on Frankfurt, due to the selective phasing of the New Berlin to Sigma 13 jump hole. The Corsair force won the battle, but barely, and Corsair forces returned home to regroup and resupply for another attack. However, the Elders of Crete decided against another attack, due to their severly weakened force. The Northern fleet was broken down, and given the task of defence from a possible counter attack by Rheinland or, worse, the Outcasts.
Also, can we do it on Saturday night at 10pm as well please? I am not really sure if I personally can be there at 10pm on Friday every week (as traffic on the M25 is bad, to say the least). So I don't want to let the team down...sounds a bit selfish, I know...
Suggestions from someone with previous experience organizing events.
1. Decide times and the timebase. I had one event messed up because people got confused about the timezones and what not (also daylight savings didn't help). Suggest using GMT and then people can check against a typical world clock to identify the local time for the event but that's your choice.
EDIT: Oops, that's already being done:rolleyes:...<thumbs-up>
2. One option is to play the same battle at different times of the day or multiple times in a row (say 2-3 times) so different people can be involved. Depends really how spread the timezones are for people participating but if you pick 2-3 different times spread out you can allow everyone in your groups to participate that might not be able to make the one event otherwise. The outcome could then be decided as the best of X. Also avoids the problem of a late arrival entering and changing the outcome of the battle since he can be told to sit and wait for the next round.
I'm liking this so far. I'm OK for both Friday and Saturday. However 22:00 GMT on Friday might be difficult for those on the West-Coast who go to school still since it would be three and schools generally get out at three.
As for the Bundschuh being involved, I don't like it. They would stay out. They feel the Rheinland government is corrupt (Nomads, yeah? o.O) but don't want an external force in control of Rheinland. Especially not the Corsairs. Since Wraith is basically only Dab, anyway...
@McNeo, both of those make it seem like the Corsairs win, but just give up right at the end. Destroying two of three divisions and crippling the third is a victory. Unless there is more than one fleet (and there's at least two in Rheinland, battle fleet Krieg, battle fleet Westphalia).
To be honest here, I asked Majkp if Wraith could be involved. While it is true Bundschuh have no love of either side, I just don't see them sitting it out either. I think Wraith could play a small part of simply running hit and runs on BOTH sides. We want the government crippled to the extent that we can seize control and turn it into the government we think it should be, but we don't want Corsairs taking control.
Basically we wouldn't be present in any large scale battles until they are almost over. I'd see Bundschuh sitting by hiding in a nearby cloud, or behind a planet and wait until both fleets cripple each other to the point where Bundschuh can come in and attempt to kill off the stragglers, or just cause as much damage as possible.
At first Bundschuh would play a role in striking at all RM presence in Frankfurt, which weakens the defenses for the Corsair invasion. As invasion goes on, we would strike at both, and then if/when Corsairs gain control, we'd see to it that their hold on Frankfurt won't be an easy one.
Wraith wouldn't be present in Dresden, and activities in New Berlin would be minimal. We'd mostly stick to Frankfurt. In this fight, Wraith is supposed to be a nuisance, not one of the factions vying for control, and I'd be sticking to that. We don't have any bombers, just two Sabres (Tank's Wraith might be a bomber, but we have only 2 ships total at this point) so we can't really do anything to people but harass, as capships are mostly beyond us.
