I took the Wurdiz out on a short patrol of the Omegas yesterday, while our brave brothers were involved in a glorious raid on the home of the Corsairs. Dresden itself was sleeping, so I headed in Omega-11, hoping to give those idiots on Solarius something to think about.
As I appraoched the station a Daumann miner launched from the bays! He flung the usual insults my way while sending a distress call. This was soon answered by a BHG gunboat. I drew the gunboat out of the shadow of Solarius, and he was soon joined by one of Daumann's hired lackeys in a Roc.
.
I soon tired of their rather limited vocabularies, and moved the Wurdiz into an attack vector, neutralising the shields of the Roc. Hah! The squeal of terror that echoed across Omega-11 was priceless! Some small payment for their depredations.
I concentrated my fire on the bomber, but the many asteroids were disrupting the targeting ability of my gunners. As the hunter GB and the bomber began to take chunks out of my hull, I knew I would have to start thinking about a retreat to Freital, but then Niklas Koehler and Alfred Wagner appeared from the asteroid fields and joined in the fight. With the bomber distracted I was able to manoeuver the Wurdiz into a deadly vector, and the Roc fell to my razor volley.
The pilot of the Orca was no match for our combined might, and its hull soon buckled.
With Omega-11 cleared, I decided to proceed to Omega-7, and from there Omega-3. As I got close to Aaland shipyard, I got a contact on my scanners. A stinking corsair in a Praetorian, running back towards Omega-7. It seems Niklas had spooked him from his depredations. I was able to catch up to him as he approached the gate to Omega-7, and easily provoked the fool into a fight. The corsair was skilled at dodging, but he was unable to threaten the Wurdiz. Several razor hits soon took their toll on his hull, before I allowed my new gunner, Jarek Bose, to take the killing shot on the Cerberus turrets. You should have seen the pride on his face at his first kill!
.
From there I directed the Wurdiz back to Freital for repairs. The earlier battle with the hunter and Daumann pilots had severely weakened the hull, but the engineers say she will be flying again within the week.
