This is an idea I've been playing around with basically since I got here. It's for a faction called The Foundation, as in Asimov's Foundation. Remember, please, that this is completely hypothetical, and to gauge the community's reaction (As I barely have time to play, between Tank's Parent's friends and Hellfire being at war):
*****
As the Coalition and the Alliance fought on, one man, an Alliance General and one of the most powerful telepaths-albeit uncontrolled-the universe has ever seen, known as Atticus Rockwood, read a book; it was an ancient tome called Foundation, written by one Isaac Asimov, of some repute. In this tome it describes a mathematical idea, Psychohistory, for predicting the actions of populations of humans over time. He took the idea seriously attempted to develop it.
It was successful.
The plan called for a number of Alliance Sleeper ships to depart and start anew in a relatively close region of space, Sirius. The number was originally eight, but it was reduced during final calculations. Eventually, the five ships would develop, war, and, finally, unite under one flag: The Foundation.
And then something unpleasant happened.
A week after the Sleeper Ships broke the blockade, the Coalition forces bore down on the Alliance Bastion at Pluto. All was lost...
And then They came.
A Nomad Superweapon took that moment to impose its presence on Humanity, and relieve it of its star. They were threatened by our potential, you see, and hence did what any logical species does: remove the threat. They didn't know about the Sleeper Ships, though... This superweapon had relieved them of most of their resources, and they spent the next hundred and fifty years recuperating, in which time Humanity's remnant had settled itself in Sirius and begun to develop. The Nomads had managed to scrape together enough resources for a single massive Dreadnought, which they promptly set upon Humanity. But, just as it entered the corner of Rheinland space...
The Foundation came.
The Foundation was part of the Hispania's contingent, led by the now-ancient Cardamine-enhanced Rockwood, that had broken off of Malta, on very good terms, after seeing the trouble Hispania was having relating to the rest of Sirius, so that it could better accomplish its mission: protecting Rockwood's plan, at all costs. They took their paltry fleet of ancient, underpowered destroyers and frigates and went head up against the Nomad Dreadnought on the edges of Sigma-13, in complete secrecy. The Nomads would have been overwhelmingly successful, had they not sighted Rockwood's mind and attempted to conquer it.
They failed. Miserably. Rockwood's unconscious mental weaponry brought itself to life and utterly destroyed the ego borders of the Nomad Brain inside the Dreadnought; in its absence, the telepathic forces inside Rockwood's mind forced him into the dead brain and conquered the creature-ship. The Nomads went into remission for another six hundred years, and the Foundation retreated back to the Omicrons to lick its wounds. In this time they built themselves a massive covert trading empire and became quite rich, at the same time maintaining the ignorance of the Houses to their presence.
Several Hundred years later, all was going well. The 80-Years-War had successfully ended in a reduction of Rheinland's military, and the balance of power had been restored. At which point the Nomad War took place, and the Order, a separate organization relatively unaware of the Foundation, finished their work for them. All was quiet, but the Foundation now had it's work cut out for it. They now knew what they were up against; they could attack it openly again. It was time to make their presence known.
And did they ever. Kusari and Bretonia went to war, and Bretonia started to lose. Badly. Rockwood's plan called for five houses, no more, no less. Kusari had to be stopped, and they set about their work. The Foundation's three fleets are now involved in a bloody war with the Kusari Navy, viciously assaulting the Japanese colony at every chance they saw. The other two cracks in the Plan, besides the Nomads, were the Corsairs-The Plan called for Five houses, no more, no less-And Malta's status as a Fallen house, unacknowledged by the others. They preach acceptance of Cardamine and they ways of Malta as they attempt to silence Crete. All the while, they watch the Nomads, and as Rockwood lies on his deathbed after a solid thousand years, they wait for their greatest enemy, the Nomads, probing and searching for their weakness, so that they can be destroyed with finality, and ensure the sanctity of All Mankind for eternity.

So, that's the story. Weird and whacked out, I know, and it's probably full of holes, but I thought I'd throw it out to see what people thought of the general idea. Basically, an Outcast-leaning Semi-Lawful Military. Thoughts?
EDIT: Yeah, Mal's right about that, the backstory I needed was Not Posted...I started that out when all I'd been writing for over a year was expository...needed practice...

Well, I must say that this back-story makes the Roleplay story you started earlier about the Foundation a lot less "whacked out" and jumbled. You kinda got the cart before the horse there; and even your esteemed co-author couldn't help.
As to the premise. Several steps up from Starfox or Jesus Christ as the founder, I'll have to admit. I'll also admit that most of Asimov's work makes my brain hurt. I guess we can thank Will Smith for easing the pain somewhat, eh?
Most of the ELF, the FSFP, and present-day TAZ is based on a lurid 70's sci-fi novel; so why shouldn't the esteemed Isaac Asimov's creations get a whack at it also?
Im sorta against anything that alters the history so much....but...here's my thought...
make it a modern Psychohistory attempt?
something that recently started, and are trying to guide the future of sirius?
and....bretonia is doing ok....war is a standoff...

Not to worry, Unselie. The Illuminati cycles of history are inexorable, and will provide the necessary monkey wrench.
As to that war.. ahem.. (Sorry for the hi-jack, Eppy..)
You haven't taken a peek next door at 48.41 yet, have you? Har!
not sure as to what the illuminati thing means....not at all....
and....next door....
sorry bulldog, I did visit...but noone ever pirates over there....
It looked fun....hell...now i have to go find the front lines....
What Mal means is, the Macduff's getting the snot blown out of it by a Kusari Battleship. Bretonia's already been pretty well kicked out of Tau, minus Harris, and that's an operation in progress in the new version. I'd say Losing War.

I'm not factoring in F and Edge and F and Earth; and we already have a Mule, in the form of the Nomads. There's no good way for me to have an ageless robot here; I could try to RP it, but I doubt wether it would work...

Well the thing is that here you acknowledge that extended intro showing Nomads is canon while it seems a lot of people thinks that it did not happen.
Everyone want to bash lil Nomads. Come on, they're supposed to be quite powerful... aren't they? /puppy-eyes-stare /sigh "Aren't they?!"... /harbinger slowly turns it's front weapons aiming at eppy's cash cow...
