To start off, no. I do not have a Keeper. This is just a discussion.
Tenacity mentioned that Nomad Cruisers and Battleships have nothing in form of Mortar variant. Do you think that they should? I know that the "Nomads get all the nice toys, they don't need this!" argument will be brought up, but what do you all think? I had envisioned a big ball of Omnom-Energy. Maybe a carbon copy, stat-wise of Light / Normal mortars, with a new projectile?
Hell, to appease the masses, make them do less damage? Nomad cruisers and battleships should get that long-range capability that human caps do.
seriously though. I want an equivalent of the siege cruiser, except a battleship, with a bigger boom...
But mortars...hmm...it depends. For cruisers, yes. I think so. But for nomad battleships...maybe...but make them a whole lot weaker, i mean, the nomad BS turrets overrule any others.
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.

any human based weapon.
Agreed.
Hmm, let's say that Nomad's mortars drains same energy as human's but they're stronger by 10% or 20%
Like: Normal mortar: 365k Nomad mortar: 400k or something like that.
About the effects ... hmm, I'd reckon to make that Nomad SNAC a way, way larger so it would be epic to look like nom-ish mortar.
' Wrote:Couldn't hurt, if Gallia gets their own mortars, the Nomads should.
That said, they should be a little weaker than Sirian ones, but give them massive range, as per your suggestion.
Final thought; DO IT!
yeah less damage... more range sounds nice... and more projectile speed cause if you have ~5k range or anyting like that. if not a Barge would be able to escape the plazmabaallz i think.
nomads must have one i think... they are a very very very old race... delvopped by kom'blah?...
In addition... i think most here know the video where nomads pew pew Sol Sun... they have very very very *copy + paste and spam "very" 1000 times* heavy guns... why not a nomad antimatter atillery:D
right now - we re playing a mostly competative game. - that means that the basis on which we pvp ought to be an equal one.
another approach is to apply a roleplaying lore to the balance, but that is a troubling one - and applying it to some and not to others is favourism.
these two little comments in advance to think about ( for those that like to jump at every new idea or are of a more opportunistic nature )
should nomads have [insert stuff here]....
right now - nomads have :
- the best LF in the game that is actually a VHF with unmatched LF stats ( voidrunner, able to fire a minirazor while being small and a great deal more agile than even the arrow - while at the same time also being smaller ) - its 3 lvl10 weapons are equal to 2xlvl9+2xlvl8 weapons on normal LF, cause nomad guns ( faction guns, not public nomad guns ) are very much superior to public guns. - addtitionally to that, it also has a lvl10 LF shield, which is nearly equal to a lvl10 VHF shield.
- basicly the most powerful battleship in the game. - i have seen it destroy 2 corsair dreadnoughts in a pure stand off ( meaning, all ships firing at point blank range ) - the nomad cap weapons are VASTLY superior to human / public primaries. - they have less choice, but who needs choice when one cannon outdoes the whole variety of human cannons.
- a slightly above average bomber. nothing extrodinary there - but still a bomber that is on the better side of the scale.
those are three out-of-balance items in favour of nomads. - now, asking if they should have special burst weapons, too.
and here we got to get down to the question "why" should they be superior in gear?
- people tend to say - "but they ought to be, cause look, they are the bane of humans and are meant to be more powerful"
- i d say... so what? - corsair ships are meant to be 20% faster than others, outcast ships more agile, a zoner juggernaut is meant to be superpowerful and in general - a cruiser isn t meant to go down to 1 very good bomber or 2 average ones.
why is that so?
cause its balance. once you give one side an advantage over another side, it is not fair anymore, cause not skill determines the outcome, but stats. - but balance doesn t mean "everything must be the same"... but it does mean "everything must have the same chance to win or loose". ( when both sides deploy equal ships )
when its balance, we ought not to argue in roleplay terms, or it opens up the can of pandora. ( mostly, cause many factions have written their own history - and are not even remotely similar to their vanilla lore anymore )
if you argue in terms of lore, you should go the whole way back to vanilla - and thats a way that won t benefit many factions.
but when we talk balance, its a definite "no" for special weapons. - but it CAN become a "yes" - once nomad gear is balanced with the rest of public ships.
