After taking the shuttle from my old office on Manhattan I arrived on Ames Research station right on schedule to take over command of my newly commissioned vessel. The.Deliverance is exactly what I asked for and more, she is a beauty. For an hour we wandered around he shinning decks and hold inspecting the handy work of the Zoner engineers. We were pleased with the ship and the final transaction between myself and the Zoners took place. Shortly after we were advised that the engineers were eager to begin the various tests that are associated after a new vessel has been constructed. I took the opportunity to go aboard as the the workers completed test after test and I was pleasantly surprised by their efficiency. If only all workers were as eager as they were. After the numerous tests were finished we moored at Ames and the final signing over process began. I've always hated paper shuffling but there are some instances in which it is very necessary. After the formal commissioning was completed I was finally allowed to park myself in the captains chair and issue the order to head for the Colorado system. The jump between systems was uneventful and the graceful ship hummed along quite nicely. I can see now that I made the right decision to base my operations from this vessel.
Once we entered the Colorado system we were advised that an old business colleague was wishing to meet me on Pueblo station. How could I refuse old Smithy, so the navigator set course and we were on our way. After mooring at Pueblo and having a number of security databases updated to accept our new ship I met Smithy and the crew and I lounged in the bar whilst he issued me with the payback to the loan that I had given him five years before. I ordered the crew to stand down for the rest of the day as the events of the day had been as tiring for me as it had been for them.
