It is logical to assume that battleships can move to different systems as needed. However, they are FAR to large to use jumpgates. So if they use jumpholes, then....
  1. Why do they not just station a permanent base by one (like a battleship) and claim the jumphole?
  2. Why do they keep paying Ageira to make jumpgates even if they know that jumpholes are safe and effective?

They don't know that jump holes are safe and effective.

Ergo, they pay Ageira.

Why do you assume this?

inRP Jumpholes are unreliable, becuase they are random, you'll never know if you exit it in one piece and/or at the system you want.

oorply: blame Z.E.L.O.T or the game mechanics

Because the other houses will realise this and Ageira wont be able to make money by building them anymore I think. Wouldn't that make part of Liberty's economy go poof?

Yes, it is difficult - but it's still doable.

Actually, jump holes are completely stable. Ageira simply lies about them.

Haven't we all stuck a round peg in a hole about 2/3rds as wide?
