I keep seeing all these secure logs in the comm channels for members of the military, pirates, or whatever; but no place for independent freelancers and traders to tell their own tales. So, this. Here, we independents can share our experiences, maybe even form a few friendships or something. Share favorite trade routes, dangerous areas to be avoided, secret routes, harrowing close calls, whatever.
Yeah. Not that I have much to share, though. Silver runs from Colorado to Manhatten are about as exciting as watching ice melt.
Anyway, so this log is for independents on both sides of the law, whether you're considering switching sides or not. Pirates, mercenaries, etc. Enjoy - maybe I'll actually do something interesting soon.

A quick and easy way to earn cash, ladies and gentlemen, is to haul prisoners from Harris to Battleship Macduff, in Tau 31 system. However, I never found out what they do with that impressive amount of prisoners on the battleship. From what I've heard, they are used for the dirty jobs, and as kamikaze fighter pilots, fighting a losing war for the BAF. That is a good business, and most likely a few runs will get you a fat retirement, however, you get bored as much as you can get bored there. Nothing but the same planet, the same ship, and the same unending war.
There, one of my weirdest things happened. I have been accused by the BAF of carrying not only prisoners, but also sintethic marijuana and cardamine. That never happened, but I have been arrested on the Macduff for 4 long days. I have been released, when they discovered that I wasn't carrying anything but prisoners. It is boring and dangerous, because nothing happens, but everything can happen. I'd suggest to find new ways of getting cash, because sooner or later, the KNF will break in Harris safe zone, and there will be a huge bloodbath, and I price more my life than anything else.

Hey there, good to hear a friendly voice out there in the Silverado field.
Thought I'd develop on your task of bringing home all that silver though. Consider bringing Boron from Manhattan to Pueblo Station on your way back and you'll increase your profits a bit. Just watch them Lane Hackers out there.
If ya need some variation, try bringing that silver to California instead. They've got quite a problem with criminality I hear. Or at least they've got loads of prisoners you can bring back to Manhattan and then exchange them for Boron and head for Pueblo again. This second route takes a bit longer but gives you more cash.

Thanks for the tips, Trashcanman! Variety is good, and I haven't had enough of it lately. Though I did have some today . . .
I was cruising slowly from the New York jump gate towards the Silverton Field when I ran out of coffee. Now, no trader worth a cargo hold of beans lets himself run outta coffee, so I left the controls to go get some. Came back to find some knucklehead in a Defender trying to blast me! Shields were down and half-hull for me by the time I got back to the controls, so I hit cruise and fled towards Freeport 2 so I could assess the threat.
I checked the comm logs, but there were no demands, nothing.
Me: Excuse me, Prelate?
*silence*
Me: Attacking without making demands? Isn't that a bit rude, you think?
Prelate: You have nothing we want besides your removal from existence! (or words to that effect)
Avian_Archon(holding near Freeport 2): Attacked?! Who?
Me: Prelate just started shooting at me after I jumped in-system.
Avian couldn't help me directly, but watched my approach from the station. I docked without difficulty, and replenished my bots and batteries. I waited a few minutes, then took off again . . . only to find Prelate sitting there, waiting for me. I had scanned his ship on the way over and found his worth to be only level 16; I decided to take him.
The X-shuttle turns worse than a battleship and only has three turrets, but it was obvious this Prelate person either didn't know that or lacked the skill to take advantage of it. It was a simple slugging match, with him being foolish enough several times to fly in front fo me, and take the wrath of my forward guns.
Avian_Archon went to Hamburg to get some police help for me, but it turned out to be unneeded. I was still in good shape when, after a run that was particularly damaging for Prelate, he decided to run away. Goodie for him.
I continued to Planet Hamburg to offload my prisoners I'd taken on at Pittsburgh, and lo and behold, I had enough money to buy a Camara! More hold space and more turrets make me a happy trader. And soon, I'll have a proper transport shield, making pests like Prelate less of a threat.
A note, though . . . a later scan showed that another of the Chosen had escorted Prelate from the system and given him lots of dough, so I expect that our next encounter - if there is one - will be a bit tougher. Keep an eye out for those Chosen freaks, guys - they're flipping insane.
And what's with the overcrowded prisons? I tried hauling prisoners to actual prisons. You'd think they'd like it, but they don't pay you squat. Meh.

I noticed some Chosen guys in NY, talking about dominating the universe. I don't exactly get the, but they're crazy alright.
For good runs, try diamonds from Dresden up to New Tokyo, it pays in spades. Also good is beryllium from Kennington Shipping Platform to Pueblo.
Also, watch out for Xenos. There seems to be more of them of late; I got jumped in California by the NY jump gate by a couple of them. I was lucky to get out alive.

Finally got rid of that horrible X-shuttle for a Camara. I've flown one before, and it's just like I remembered it: a turret-laden log that turns worse than you'd guess. The addition of a civilian transport shield makes her a good bit tougher than you'd guess, too...I love the thing, have to admit.
So I'm off exploring Kusari space, mapping their trade routes. Hope to save up for an Armored Transport or something soon; bigger hold and more guns. And armor, of course. Bigger target, too, but it can't be helped. At least it's pretty out here. Say what you want about the Kusari, they do build some decent-looking stuff.

Good Idea, I like having a Independent Trader & Freelancer Message Dump!
Also, Maybe use this dump for weapon & equip sales, like "Traders & Smugglers Ebay for Discovery"?
I'm trying to buy Nomad Blaster's for a customer whom wishes not to be named - as a example?
