First of all, Jinx, I'm truly astounded by your progress. I mean, from the Starfleaish model to this one... Impressive work!
It does look a tad too agressive for civilian purposes. Someone mentioned a presidential liner. It almost could fit that, but if you think of it, it would be bad for politics for the president to go around in such an agressive vessel. It could fit as a liner refitted for military purposes (personel transportation) or as some sort of field support vessel (though I couldn't really place it as such).
I agree with what was said about those wings needing some sort of supporting between them and the main hull.
I'd say it definetly fits Liberty:)
I mean, all those Li fighters looks sort of like birds to me:D...Especially the Patriot/Liberator:P
Presidential Transport sounds cool but...If it's so 'presidential',why would it be available to everyone..?Is it not supposed to be something like Air Force One/Navy One,etc? The president's personal transport...
now that model is far far far from anything that can ever be placed in ... practicly any game. it has 21.000 polygons - and i still haven t figured out how to reduce most of it. ( not to mention that i made the bridge too small, so it looks roughly 1.5 times the size of a normal liner, which is allready ..... big // and i guess there is a reason why there are not many people flying around in stuff like spyglass ships - cause who wants to pilot a ship twice the length of a rheinland battleship:D)
if one of the established modellers really likes the designs ( yes, they are designs rather than real models ); i can allways post you the files and/or you can copy it and try to work on it yourself.
in the meantime i ll try to figure out what you all mean by converting it into HF2 or Quake3 format:mellow:. i know i ve seen those things in the option. but it makes as much sense to me as what steven hawkins says about time and space stuff...... .
anyway, i still have 27 days of milkshape trial - time to figure out quite some stuff. and i got Gmax now - whibh i have to admit is a lot harder to work with - much less intuitive than milkshape which is like a kids toy. - but i ll get used to it, now that i see how much fun it is to work on those things. i m just glad i tried it out and figured that it can be fun.
now that is a really freelancerish, libertyish looking liner. more of an adv. liner
excellent job done there, but one thing. hope it isnt like trying to maneuver a bs into a tl:P
if that does get included into disco, i can see it as my Armoury and Co.'s flagship
made a new liner ( inspired by the aerospace liner from the game : Dreamfall )
now, its a lot less detailed than the other one... but i worked on reducing the polygons. that one only has around 4500 polygons, and makes heavy use of custom shapes to achieve more or less round shapes.
description:
the passenger console is the "horn" like structure in the lower part of the ship. the engine and powergenerator section is the monowing. there is no visible bridge/cockpit.
however, it does not look too freelancerish. but at least it would not crash any non highest end computer cause it has 30.000 less polygons than the other liner:laugh:
edit: of course that picture is slightly ( really not much ) spiced up by the use of a light shader in photoshop - ... there is no sideview cause.... cause... umm.... its totally boring to look at it from the side.
Yes, that baby looks good, but Dab's right, it's a battleship...I like it though, make it, say, a Heavy Liner or something for clients with way too much money and a desire to see the Omicrons in closer detail...LOTS of guns are good there. And yes, that Poly count will need to drop, I think my infamous Spyglass only had, like, 15000 uncleaned or something and that almost killed Yuri/Mohr's computer...
