That's the question: it there any tools avaliable to export textures from files we have and save them as JPG? At the moment, we're working on exploration roleplay a lot and such a function will be extremely interesting as an ability to use satellite photographic camera to make planetary maps.

So, can I have it?
Go to The Starport and search UTF Editor. It lets you view the tree and nodes that make up CMP, 3DB, UTF, and MAT files (and associated ones like SPH, which are planet files). The textures should be .dds or .tga files inside either the SPH file for a planet or its MAT file (if it uses MATs, not sure, but probably does). You can extract said files from the material libraries with the UTF Editor.
