If I wanted to create a sort of "test version" of a faction which is not officially registered, what are the limits to this faction's activities and what opportunities we would have?
But, with that lack or extra opportunities, you also don't have so many official things to do, like paying that 500mil startup thingy, having to stay active etc...
Poor puns aside I can only mirror the opinions of the others who has posted in this thread. Unofficial factions has more "freedom" in a way but the trade for that freedom is the lack of any real power. And that is the gist of it.

What Doc J said pretty much.
You can do what you want, but if theres an offical faction for your ID and they dont like it, you either do what they say or suddenly your bases start shooting at you.
Eh. As long as you don't start to cause trouble for the "official" faction I imagine there won't be too much grief. You can run off of an ID that most closely matches an existing faction.
For instance, you can be a smaller Outcast family without any real power in the nation, but one that focuses on a specific facet, such as cardi smuggling to Liberty, or pirating in a specific location.
Or another example: You can take the Liberty Navy ID, band up with a group of ships and patrol the not-often-patrolled areas such as Galileo and Kepler.
RPwise you can do a lot, but rulewise, you are basically on-par with independants of the ID you are carrying.

Pretend your entire group is 1 independent, and that's pretty much it. You can be praised, criticized, blamed as a group, but you don't have any more real privileges than an independent.

Is an unofficial faction limited to only one specific ID or can it utilize more of them? (Ofcourse I do not mean combining unlawful+lawful or any others which do not match to each other)
And there are unofficial factions that do use multiple, such as the KPT. HOWEVER, if you're making this more like a clan-based thing, don't do it; It's looked down heavily by people round here...

Not realy, but be specific if you want accurate answers. There are some ID combinations that make sense. Like Pirate ID-Smuggler ID. The word is that even some official factions use such methods.
