I've seen so many topics lately on rule breaking, rule lawyering, bitter goodbyes, general dissatisfaction and the sort that it got me thinking. Sometimes we are so angry we completely forget to look back to ourselves. So I decided to start this topic and share some of my regrets from certain things I've done here in Disco. Sometimes it's difficult to send a message from a posture of righteousness, maybe in doing the opposite, we can actually build some common understanding.

If anyone else has got some similar story to tell, please feel free to follow suit. People say there was this guy once, quite smart one apparently, that said: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

...

Situation #1:
2 on 2 fight in New Berlin. We killed the first one and continued fighting the second one. After one or two minutes the first one shows again and engage again. I say, "// You're supposed to be dead" and since he doesn't give up we kill him again then engaged the second guy again. We were fighting around the Dresden jumpgate and he's giving us a hard time flying between the jumpgate's structure making it difficult for us to aim and follow. Eventually we kill him and then he says, "Good fight". I'm still pissed about his friend re-engaging and reply, "Not really". Not satisfied I PM him and say, "Next time don't re-engage".

What I regret: It was indeed a good fight, something different if not unique, but I'm so blinded with rule lawyering I was not able to acknowledge it at the time and despite having a reason to be angry, I could have recognized it and talked to the guy about rules afterwards.

...

Situation #2:
I'm fighting around New Berlin and die. A couple of other guys from my group keep on fighting with the hostile. I'm curious about the battle outcome and want to check how's it going. Since the battle is taking place less than 10k from where I respawned I decided to dock out and take a look. I literally sit at the docking ring to watch the show.

What I regret:
Even though I didn't re-engage. I should have thought that if had my previous enemy on my scanners so did he. I know I don't like it when I pick up a "dead" character on my sensors, specially when I'm fighting.

...

I'll post some more later, those were two recent things that came to my mind.

Don't think theres any one situation but a regret a few times getting really quite pi*sed of ingame, on one occasion someone re-engaging and a couple of times when the enemy's cap whored, i should have stayed more composed.

I try not to let it bother me so much now.

Also AoM get your ass in game!

Completely out of my own topic, but...

Please, Angel, do come and play with us for crying out loud.

And by the way, of course it is allowed to post.

I regret being mean....
I crush factions, both ingame and out, and we need new blood, who I could have turned off by making it nearly impossible to log on without getting raped..sometimes I'm a right bitch....sorry.

<strike>note: Not apologizing to RM...RM deserves it.</strike>

Holy....Since this was gravedug, I'll point out that I posted this two years ago.
I regret, very much so, what I did to the RM, with that bounty. It was cruel, and uncalled for.
That said, both their actions, and my response, were well inside of the rules and RP. Sometimes we should remember that we're the players, not the characters.

Situation 1:

Eating a cusard twist during fighter combat...dropped out of my hand and fell on my keyboard resulting in massive amounts of sticky white clumpy glue type substance ruining my keyboard.

Regret: Eating the bun in the first place

Situation 2:

Helped a friend transfer money from char to char on the PvP server...he said if I helped him, I would get 30 mill and I could buy a Gunboat. Big Mistake! BULLDOG punched us in the arm for credit stacking.

Regret: Credit stacking....

Situation 3:

Mowed down an under level player when I was a Discovery NOOB!

Regret: Mowing down the under level player....I believe he was level 27 :$

Situation 4:

Saying I would transfer credit and accidently running off with it. The guy took so long that I forgot all about it. I had to ask myself..."What am I doin here again?" My friend in TS called me over Kusari way so I though "meh, If I can't remember then no harm done."
So this guy come back with his new character....He starts swearing and cursing and flaming me to death and I say "waaaa! Oh yea LOL"
I didn't bother reporting him, because it was fairly reasonable that he said what he said to me. I appologised and we got on with out seperate ways.

Regret: Not reporting the guy, he ended up modding and killed me with beams also equiped with the uber sheild. I never saw him again. He must have been pretty pissed at me :P

Situation 5:

I was flying through unknown with DBoy. I wasn't told about the Nomads and pirates so I just cruised along my marry way. He was flying along and he said as I died "Watch out for the Nomads..."

Regret: Flying through Unknown with DBoy. This also acts as a warning to any other new player here that meets DBoy outside Manhattan when you first launch into space with your first character for the first time on Discovery without playing single player.:crazy:

Situation 6:

Well, I decided to create a faction called the BDR (Blood Dragon Resistance) It was the second most successful Blood Dragon pirate faction to ever live...I had players flocking from all sides of the community. The a few noobish rule breakers forced me to shut it down.

Regret: Creating a open ended invitation clan, and inviting noobs with no history of ever reading the rules.

Now that I am a clean little bunny. I leave this thread alone.

Cheers
