Where did you two go? You plan on coming back and finish what you help start? Or do you plan on finding a way to do this yourself?
It is disappointing that both of you just left. We need to work this out since time is wasting.
Timothy, I have received some information about you contacting (do not know who) to help you bring this to an end. If this information is true, it is sad that you would pull an "end run" instead of staying here and working it out. We disagreed on some points Tim, but we could have worked through it.
And Yevan, how is Gran Canaria these days? Sure do wish you would come back. Not quite sure why you even left, but I am sure you had your reasons.
I returned to Nine during the lull to see what had come of it, not with aims to be plopped in charge of gathering up the remaining locals to make a political stand against the Corsairs.
When that position was dumped on me it seemed worthwhile to ride it out for a spell to see what might come of it, the resulting conversations convinced me that I would be well served in getting out of dodge before some angry survivors neck deep in shock took their anger out on the Corsairs in the form of insane demands.
As to accusations that I'm investigating the possibility of negotiating a ceasefire with the Corsairs by proxy of legitimate parties and or voices of some communal authority within our ranks as opposed to the fuming survivors of Nine is, however, preposterous.
First off we are not "fuming" survivors. Yes we are upset about what has happened and we voice our opinions, but that does not make us insane.
I agreed with you on the food and tech proposal you made.
I also suggested that hostilities and piracy against all zoners from all corsairs be stopped. Is that insane?
I proposed the corsairs building a new Freeport. Is that insane?
I even asked you if food and supplies were all that was needed and you said no. That there was more to it than food and supplies. Now maybe I did not here you explain it, but you never explained what it was or suggested other ideas.
What is insane is giving away the farm. To just rollover and play dead before the might Corsairs. They attacked us and from what I gather people want us to do just that. I have not asked for or proposed anything that is insane or a demand. You see it differently and that is ok because we are two different people with our own opinions.
Part of my problem with your plan was that you always alluded to other things but never explained them. You did not want to go into them here. I just simply do not understand that. We are trying to solve this situation and you were holding back information that may have proved valuable. Maybe even swayed the decisions of all who are here.
I ask that you return. If you have information or insight it is needed.
[font=Comic Sans Ms]"I also suggested that hostilities and piracy against all zoners from all corsairs be stopped. Is that insane?"
At this juncture? Yes.
"I proposed the corsairs building a new Freeport. Is that insane?"
At this juncture? Yes.
I'll... Try to deliver my two cents again.
What I was eluding to was our position, one which I'm not entirely sure you appreciate, there's a fair bit of history there which I'll attempt to illuminate.
This entire mess began with a very small group of Corsairs working to kick up a fuss. The [A], anarchists. Their goal was to disrupt Zoner Corsair relations. Those relations turned out to be amazingly fragile, as the Zoners of One more or less instantly raised a cry horror over the -idea- of being attacked and prostituted themselves out to the SCRA and Hessians, both mortal enemies of the Corsairs, alongside a number of other unsavory types.
A very very minor situation escalated to one of near war, as it seemed the Zoners were now allying themselves with the enemies of the Corsairs.
The culmination of these events was the seige of One and countless lives lost.
The reason behind it was the dissolution of relations between the Corsairs and the Zoners. In recent years the Zoners have made no attempts to maintain the diplomatic ties that they've long since taken for granted. Their relationship with the Corsairs was based upon one of perpetual threats and saber rattling over depriving them of needed material resources, casually threatening the lives of the Corsair civilian population at every turn. Their relationship with the SCRA was to play into the latter's desire to extend their influence by virtue of becoming the protectorate of the former.
When a small group of chaos bent Corsairs sought to wreck the bonds between the Zoners and Corsairs they found that they hardly needed to extend the effort. The Zoners had been doing their job for them for years.
Now we're where we are. The Zoners formed an alliance of Hessians, SCRA, Outcasts, GMG and Order powers to assault the Corsairs time and time again. The death toll on both sides are in the thousands.
The Corsairs are not of a mind that they were the aggressors in this. They've been responding to situations as they arise. Freeport Nine was assaulted because it was serving as a staging point for attacks into Corsair space.
The Corsairs do not feel that they need the Zoners anymore. They're willing to rely upon the thin supply chain linking them to Kusari, because even that weak link is doubtless stronger, in their mind, than the apparent strongarming tactics of a politically hapless Zoner nation.
That's what I was alluding to. That's what needs to change. The Corsairs are going to look at your proposals of rebuilding freeports, cessations of piracy and so on as the demands of a would be conqueror. They are going to shoot you in the face.
We're not the victims in this. We're a bunch of fools who made some terrible mistakes and now we're suffering for it.
If we're going to make it out of this mess with our values and homes intact, more or less, we're going to need to regain the trust and business of the people we've alienated.
Now see, that is what I needed to know. You kept alluding to things but holding them back. I now understand what you are saying, however, we are not the zoner alliance now and I hope we can build that bridge back with the corsairs.
Let me ask you this, am I to believe that the zoners without cause "prostituted" themselves with SCRA and the others? I understand that this 'alliance' happened after the attacks not before. Because I really doubt as if the corsairs are totally innocent in all of this considering the [A] were the ones that started this mess according to you. I will however agree that maybe the zoners should have contacted the Corsair council of Elders to try and get them to stop. But by your own words Tim, it was the Corsairs that started the entire mess they too could have tried diplomacy instead of allowing some of their own to disrupt relations between us and them.
Now, we have decided to hold off and not ask for a new station, but should they not be held accountable in some way? Make restitution? No matter how anyone tries to spin this they did not have to attack this station and make it our fault. They could have and should have controlled the [A], but they chose not to for their own reasons.
Gabriel Caudill of the OSI is enroute to the station. When he arrives we will talk upon his arrival.
You really don't have a clue as to what's going on do you? I'm almost inclined to believe that your entire understanding of what's taken place is... Only what I've just told you.
