My name is Kal~el and I am one of the survivors here on Freeport 9 that has been in the discussions concerning the peace talks here about our situation here. I just want to give you an update about what has been discussed and transpiring here.
We currently have about 14 staying onboard. Some are running about making repairs and others sometimes drop into the cafeteria to give their opinions. There were 5 people actively discussing our options in regards to peace. They are Timothy Rhyme, Yevan Pushkin, Dankien Moebus, Silvan, and myself. Timothy Rhyme and Yevan Pushkin have left leaving only Silvan, Dankien, and myself to carry on.
We have been visited by an alien known as the Consul. They repaired some parts of the station, but I do not know where they have gone. He has not been around for a few days. Others have stopped by and Tim and Yevan sedated one and removed him from the station.
I now wish to inform you of what we have discussed. Some here (since left) believe we are wanting to make "demands" upon the corsairs. That is completely not true, however, I know it depends upon your viewpoint. I want this to end but I am not willing to give away the farm either. They attacked us and I am not willing to just rollover and placate the Corsairs. They must be willing to offer some sort of restitution for their actions against this station.
1. Considering offering them to build a base near the Gamma jumphole. I am starting to have second thoughts about this because I believe others will come calling and want their base in Theta also and well...it would become a warzone.
2. All hostilies and pirating of ALL zoners by ALL corsairs (factions and indies) stop. I guess this could be a demand and if so I am willing to make it.
3. Corsair pay to have a new Freeport built. A station like the Ring/Oder shipyard just outside of planet New Berlin. It would encircle the destroyed station with walkway/tubes that would connect the stations. It would have three docking stations as follows: 1) Freeport 9, 2) Freeport 9 Shipyard, and 3) Freeport 9 Memorial. Again, if this is a demand it is one that I am willing to make. I do not believe that it is asking to much of the Corsairs.
4. Supply runs would be made to Gamma. If any zoner willing to make that run would be allowed. However, I am not going to force anyone to do so. //could just RP that so much of supplies made weekly. Does not have to necessarily be done physically by players.
5. This one is from Rhyme. Share technology that would help them to solve their food problem. The old proverb, "give the person a fish you feed them for a day, teach a person how to fish you feed them for a lifetime". This would have to be carried about by others smarter than myself. I do not hold this technology, but I am sure that those who do would be willing to help.
That is it in a nutshell. Dankien, Silvan, and myself look forward to hearing in advice that you have to offer. Would also like to invite you all to Freeport 9 to join in the discussions. We all want the same thing. Lets put our heads togther and make it happen.

Mr. Kal~El,
You might remember me, the name's Gheis Mace, captain of the OSI-Resolute. I was one of the transport pilots who came shortly after the attack and brought a load of supplies. We met then, and I stayed a short while and observed the group's conversations. I departed about the same time those magical robots came in their shiny ship. That was just a little too much excitement for my poor heart.
While I speak as an individual and not as the voice for my employers, I have to say, your demands seem...ambitious. And yes, they are very much demands. You demand that the Corsair Empire, a very strong miltary force, give back to you what you feel you deserve. You know, uh, I don't want anyone to get hurt, but that seems like a tall order from fourteen guys on a derelict station with a couple of ships, eh?
As far as I see, the Corsairs would have absolutely no reason to negotiate with you. Anything you offer could easily be taken from you by force. Now the Corsairs haven't done so yet, so that means there's something there to pursue. Obviously they want to get someone's attention. Well, let's see if we can have a talk, no?
You know, if you had some backing by a group with some...economic influence...things might be a bit easier, you know? Gotta make yourselves worth something to the Corsairs. Tech alone just ain't gonna cut it.
Remember, Mr. Kal~El. Alliances are fleeting. Credits are forever.
Yes Mr. Mace I do remember you. I also appreciate the advice and input you have made while here and in your response. I understand they could take what they want by force, but yet they have not, so one does wonder why they haven't.
Now, there are those who believe that this mess was created by the Zoner Alliance which includes your company. You left just like the other zoners factions did. I am only here to try and clean it up. So when you say I need to have backing by a group with economic influence, which is very good advice, whom do you think that should be? When you all abandoned this very station so the Corsairs could take it over!
There is no way those here can defend this station against the corsairs, that goes without saying, but I do no see anyone else coming to our aid to figure this out. Everyone is bailing out and I am told I am ambitious. I was not in control here while you were here or after you left, as a matter of fact, no one wanted to be in control.
I need help in figuring this out. But everyone speaks in vague, well hidden terms that do not offer much. From what I am hearing and by reading between the lines we should just give them what they want.

Greetings, Commander,
I have just ordered the crew of Med Force One to head to Freeport 9. Once there, the personnel of the ship will provide medical, food sustenance and it's engineers will begin working on getting needed repairs completed and getting systems back online. So that you know, Commander James Haddock is in charge of the ship while Dr. Edward Tesh is the chief medical officer in my absence.
Mind you, Med Force is a place of peace and even though they will be there giving needed aid, life aboard ship will continue with research and medical services. We have some severely critical patients recovering, a few of which were aboard Freeport 9 during the attack. It's orders are clear and none of them include being a security ship. I will not allow those on board to become victims themselves.

We have arrived to render any needed assistance. Our biodomes will provide more than enough food, water and home grown medicines to furnish those aboard the base. Our engineering staff has begun working on the base infrastructure and systems. We will stay until these repairs are made and the base is self sustaining again.
Commander James Haddock, Commanding Officer
Dr. Edward Tesh, Chief Medical Officer
Greetings Commander Haddock! On behalf of those still here we welcome you. Thanks for all that you have brought and the work you have done in providing for the injured. I know that your orders are specific and you will not deviate from them but in advice you may have concerning our situation here would greatly be appreciated.

Greetings Kal-El
I have just entered orbit of Freeport 9. I'm glad the reports of Med Force One being here were correct. Now we can hopefully get this station in decent order. As for your talks with the Corsairs, I ask you to hold a little bit longer. I suspect you and I will be talking face to face soon enough.
Well, greetings to you.
Forgive me if I appear exhausted, I have been exceedingly busy as of late. I doubt I am particulary popular aboard Freeport 9, but no matter. You asked for advice, so for what little it may be worth, I shall give it.
As for your first point, you appear to misunderstand why the Corsair Empire wants control of Freeport 9. It is not simply that they want a base in Omicron Theta. You see, they have a multitude of heavy warships, any one of which would serve as a most capable base. They want Freeport 9 because the Corsair Empire wants conquest. They desperately need a victory, a triumph to boost the morale of their subjects. So offering to build them a base would be futile, it would solve nothing.
Now, no attacks or piracy against any zoner vessel. It is indeed nice to dream. But there is no chance that any such deal could be reached. Even if the Elders wished it, it would collapse within weeks, most likely days. I hate to even suggest it, but for the most part at least, it is simply too deeply ingrained into their culture.
Your third point is so unrealistic as to almost be a comedy, if the situation were not so grave. It is a futile hope, nothing more.
Now, onto the somewhat awkward subject of offering supplies to the Corsair Empire. It would not achieve anything, for largely two reasons. First, as history has proved time and again, you cannot buy off an invading force forever. It reminds me of the Danegeld. Whether it be food, gold, technology or anything else that we may have of value, it solves nothing. They will take your offerings, and ask for more. And then for more, and for more, and for more. And when you cannot give anymore, they will simply take, with you being all the more poorer and weaker for your gifts.
The second reason is somewhat more unpleasant. More unsettling, to me at least. The TAZ, and OSI have simply beat you to it! Their organisations can far exceed what you could produce, by a factor of ten or more. And they brokered not for your protection, but merely their own. They will not stop shipments if you are attacked further, indeed they have increased their supply efforts. Your offerings are nothing compared to what they supply. In short, they have undercut your very lives. And it fills me with great anger and distaste at what they have done. But that is the choice they have made, and unfortunately, we must all live with it's consequences.
So my friend, I wish you luck, but I fear that you may be gravely disappointed. For it is not a peace deal that they seek. It is a surrender. And that is something that we cannot offer to anyone, else we offer our very way of life.
It is wonderful to hear from you. I take your advice to heart. I do agree with you on what you have said, especially your ending statement. Many I have spoken with keep telling me how dire things are and how powerful the Corsairs are and we will not be able to stand against them. It is true if it were just us. I want this to end, but I am not willing to give up the farm either. Points one and three have been shelved.
I heard about some deals the OSI made, but not aware of any the TAZ had made. It is rather odd since Med Force One is attached to the station. They are here helping to repair the station and give medical assistance. If what you say is true about OSI and TAZ then it truly is a sad day for all zoners. I like our independence, but our independence is also our undoing. We seek to only look after ourselves and sometimes in doing so we trample our brothers underfoot.
I will not give the Corsairs this station or allow them to build one in Theta. If it means the hostilies continue, then that is on them. We have had others defend us and it is my hope they are still here if needed. Although, that is not what I want or the remaining survivors here on Freeport 9.
Again, thank you for your advice and say hello to Charles M. Burns for me. I only know him in passing while trading here in edgeworlds.
