I simply don't have the skills to make the pic the way I want it & I could really use the help y'all.
First off, lemme explain what the Green Hell is so that you can understand what I'm looking for:
In a nutshell, it's a large cavernous Gaian watering hole built deep within Islay station & created to emulate an outdoor environment for a people that are restricted to station living. Think of it like a huge biosphere/atrium.
It has plantlife everywhere, large monitor screens mounted to the cavern ceiling projecting the outside view of the station in order to provide an approximation of a skyline & to reduce the feeling of claustrophobia for its residents & the place even fogs up at night.
Here's the basepic:
Now, I tried to do this myself, but I had to stop & come find people that can pull this off better than me...although it'll probably be helpful to show you what I've attempted:
Think 'controlled urban overgrowth' when adding the plantlife & allow a balance 'tween the natural & the industrial.
Hide the 5 light globes with something, & add the gaian guard logo somewhere & try to make it look old with the paint flaking off....actually, it would be great if the right half of the logo was added as a large mural on the left wall partially covered by ivy, but exposed enough to be recognizable.
The placement of the screens on the ceiling I'd like to retain & don't worry about the silhouette of the kid, I can deal w/ that myself later
& lastly, it needs a light foggy haze in the air.
I'll answer any questions & if it's really impressive, I'm open to giving a 50M bonus above the 150M root price for it.
Whoever decides to take this on, Thanks in advance:cool:
It was a harder stuff that I thought at first... It's a pain to find a balance between adding stuff and keeping the station visible. I didn't find a suiting middle-ground between the two when tried, so I decided to add more stuff.
I can't say I'm satisfied with it. It might get better on the above-mentioned train-ride, might not.
Yeah, I know what you mean when you say that it's a pain to find a balance between adding stuff and keeping the station visible, so I can help by saying don't worry about a balance per se, & think instead 'less is more'
Anyhoo, there's a number of things in there that I definitely like, but allow me to offer up some suggestions:
I want to keep the 'ugly foreground' because it's the roof of the cavern where the giant monitors go...PM me your contact info & I'll send you my PSD that I should have thought to mention earlier to help make the job easier.
When I send it to you, it'll look like this:
& I puttered around until I got the guard logo looking the way I want it, so that's another thing you don't have to worry about either:cool:
Actually wait! You know what? If you watch the first 50 seconds of this video, it will make it easier to describe things: -->Click<--
Now, just imagine that place with a fair amount of plant overgrowth everywhere...not "out of control overgrowth," but like the landscapers took a week or two off.
Those 2 trees on either side of the alley you used are great & feel free to add ivy to some spots on the walls. Ivy tendrils hanging off buildings & growing up walls always look cool.
Speaking of the alleyway, I'd like to keep that clear, with maybe just a hint or two of something like clover or small weeds poking up from under the cobble stones.
The screens on the ceiling are supposed to look weird & out of place cause the idea is, they're newly installed & the gaians just had to bolt em up between the lights where ever they would fit.
Also, i'd be cool to try & fit 2 CNS screenshots over those 2 squares on either side of the door with the green lights. It doesn't have to cover the whole area, just think of what it would look like if you had to bolt a widescreen TV there
(plus, it's a subtle clue that the place is within the FL'er universe)
& I decided that the globe in the middle over the statue can stay...the globey lamp posts look stupid & can be covered, but the middle one is really cool after all.
I hope all this helps, & again, I really appreciate you taking this on...but it's late & I can't think of anymore suggestions right now:sleep:
...& enjoy the train ride:)
::edit- oh yeah, no flowers anywhere plz, just leafy greens::
now, i obviously dont have the skills for something like this, but i do remember something from when i was.....probably about 8.
its a place in paris, in disneyland. a cafe, already made to look like its outdoors. I dunno if it has the kind of charm you're looking for, it probably aint, but just if it helps ye at all, i went nd found a pic of it.
