Do any of you have certain sayings or phrases that you use quite a lot in RP?

For example, when you go afk do you say "Sorry, I spilt coffee on the communications console" or when you get into a fight do you say "The great <name> fears no one!" or god forbid

"The space monkeys are coming, everyone hide!" - Anonymous player

I don't really think I have any lines that I use a lot, except for the general "This is the Order captain Caedes requesting permission from <whoever> to <do whatever>".

I'd like to read some of your lines if you'd like to share.

Also... apologies if this kind of topic has been made before :/

When some do-gooder calls my RHA characters "Filthy Pirate!" I often respond with "I prefer 'revolutionary'!"

Linus likes to say strange things just to keep people on their toes, or intentionally take things the wrong way for the sake of making a joke.:PThen again, he's a Zoner, with naught to do but drift amongst the stars, selling cargo for a few credits. So he makes wisecracks or asks people if they've eaten any pie lately, etc.:P

Most of my other characters don't talk much over system comms.

If I get a phone call, instead of going "//brb phone" I'll say something like "Got an audio comm, hold on."

If I have to log out earlier than anticipated, I'll give some kind of reason. The other day, when I had to log off as Arkady I told Gamma it was "Socialist suppertime.":P

The server shutting off for auto-maintenance or lagging itself into oblivion I tend to refer to as solar storms, ion storms, interference, stuff like that.

Sometimes my OSC char will ask lawfuls about pirate activity, even though I've already scanned the systems nearby to see who's around. And sometimes, even though nobody else is in the system, he'll go "And off to port, ladies and gentlemen, you'll see <something>." I've been tempted a couple of times for him to say (when there's a known pirate insystem) "Gee, folks, I sure do hope a mean 'ole pirate doesn't catch us! We're sitting ducks here by the jump gate, yesiree!" Well, the first part anyway.

Like a thrill ride for the passengers.:PHe likes to take them to dangerous and exotic places on the way to Augsberg anyhow, once even going all the way out to Gamma, Kappa, and Unknown, making the long loop through Kusari space back to Augsberg.

And when I go afk while docked, if I come back and see that somebody's been trying to get in touch with me I'll say something like "Sorry, was out of the cockpit" or "Had to visit the cafeteria. They have some really good sandwiches here!" or "Had to visit the little space pilot's room on Freeport 2", etc.

Martin teases Corsairs about tea and biscuits, and that Bretonian prison food is better than what the Elders eat on Crete. (he might be right, too! XD) And when blown up, often as not: "Well, that was rather rude."

Silvy doesn't say much over system comms, but is generally cheerier than one might expect a Gaian to be. "Hello there! Lovely day, isn't it? Care to donate to the cause?" The donation being encouraged by liberal application of disruptors, of course.;)

"To all ships in the New Berlin system, this is the Rheinland Military. State intentions in Rheinland space and report to Planet New Berlin for inspection."

I've "said" that line (and slight variations of it) so many times already I hardly realize anymore I'm typing it. And also...

"Failure to respond and comply will be taken as a hostile action and dealt accordingly."

"<character name>, this is your last warning, you will respond!"

And finally...

"<character name>, halt!"

Recently I decided not only to broadcast when a hostile is in system by simply saying some variation of "Hostile in system." But I'll also instruct the civilian ships to avoid certain areas or to "dock for cover" altogether.

"To all civilian ships, this is the military. There's a hostile ship inbound. Avoid <area> until further notice."

Anyway, Hans is the character I have more fun playing.

My trader, even though he usually pays pirates (if they make an effort) is a mouthy one. He'll always start a "conversation" in a pirating situation with something like this (specially if the pirate shoots first):

"Are you out of your mind? (Do you know how much it'll cost me to fix that damage?)"
"You people have no notion of economics. I better just quit the business altogether if I am to pay you that much" (this is usually when pirates come tax unreasonable amounts)

Funnily enough, my privateer goes on a spiel about economics when marks try to run.

"In fleeing, even if we don't catch you, you lose even more profit than if you had paid us due to your inability to make use of trade lanes severely slowing your progress, sir."

Well I always try and change things up that I say but I like to tease the Phantoms and SCRA as Jack. For example; "Caution Civilian ships, Phantoms detected in system... ...They can be mildly dangerous in numbers larger than 10." Or for the SCRA "Ahhh, shut it Xeno" (Because he thinks Xeno regulars (NPC's) are better than them).

Or when he was a RM pilot, he'd say: "Do I HAVE to fly a Wrath? I am perfectly fine in my Snubnose" (FYI I HATE the Wrath). Jack also spends alot of time near the Liberty Navy Patrol Lines, and is constantly pestered about flying a Raven Claw, which he paid for after his ship was destroyed when he tried to shoot some SCRA/Corsairs the SA was shooting. so he says "Evenin' LSF/SA, and before you ask this ship is NOT stolen, thank you"
