I just got into Discovery and i've got a doubt about the techs you can use while having a pirate ID, from what i can see in the tech chart pirate ids can use civilian tech but some people keep telling me i cant use the spatial and Purple Goddess Chain Gun both of wich say they are civilian.
Can anyone say if this combination is legal or not?
I'm a pirate, rather well known in Liberty space, and I've used a spatial with purple goddess chain guns for a few months now...I do believe I've even flown past bear on a few occasions....I assume he scanned me, and he didn't say anything.
Whoever is telling you this, either doesn't know what there talking about, or they would rather not see...
For the record, I find the Spatial is a very fun ship with lots of firepower, but it's rather useless for pirating larger ships, due to the fact that it only has one cd/bomber torpedo slot....so you either get CD or Supernova, not both. It also is rather large, has a relatively slow turn radius, and that darn wing on the side provides a HUGE target. Now, if your able to find a friend to cover the CD's, the Spatial will make short work of just about any non-military ship in Sirius
You don't know how often I've thought, well if they removed the wing, and added another cd/bomber torpedo slot...this would be ideal for pirating. Alas, I think it would make the ship very overpowered, so I get it....
I've made many, many millions more with my Roc than I ever have with my Spatial...so much so that I just get in it now to screw with LN pilots, or provide heavy fighter cover to escort pirate transports carrying stolen good across Sirius...
You'd be amazed at how many of them run rather than face the ship....its sort of wierd actually. Perhaps because there not a common ship in liberty space, many people unfamiliar with them think their better than they are?
I do like flying it though, and hope to find 2 codes for it soon....I have blown up quite a few LN pilots, but I assume they were all rookies and/or inexperienced. A naval ace in a HF will make short work of a spatial with frightening speed.
If you do decide to pirate in it, I would do so in Independent space where you'll draw less attention, and be less likely to run into significant naval forces.
Safe travels friend,
A Captain
Ships
The Ceridwen - Roc Civilian Bomber
The Esus - Spatial Civilan Deep Space Explorer.
P.S. I am also an indie pirate who operates mostly in Liberty and the surrounding systems, although now that the LN knows who I am on site, things are getting more difficult. Not to mention the rogues turning on me in the blink of an eye when I do seem to recall helping some of them on a few separate occasions...meh, whatever, they beyatch and moan then I steal 10 mills a few kilometers away from the capital of the entire house. The LN has little actual control, and pirates run rampant in all of liberty space.
Regardless, if you would like to go a hunting sometime, you can pm me here or pm ingame at either Ceridwen or Esus.
i would add, if you are into cargo piracy (which is often more fun that simple credit extortion), get a pirate transport. civvie as well, and you can make decent money pirating npcs trains. my substitute for regular f2 trading.
