Probably the best kind of music out there for me is the kind that makes you want to jump up and shout out a war cry of sorts.

Things like

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xGUUeqsXak&NR=1

Or

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xjdzVbe-H8

Etc.

I know of all the pieces of art by Two steps from Hell already. Any other bands, groups or solo's out there who classify as epic? Share away.

Emerald Sword
And...
Dawn of Victory

Both by Rhapsody (of Fire)

And various E Nomine tracks, for example, Opus Magnum and E Nomine (same name as the band, yes).

Also, Mike, you have just re-awakened my interest in Nightwish (kudos to 11/10 for showing me their work in the first place).

Edit: And when it comes to game music, while RA may have some epic win, I still prefer DoW music, like this.

I'll put in my two cents' worth:

Requiem For a Dream

My apologies if this is a repeat, but it is an exceptionally good song. It isn't as rock-oriented as the other pieces here, but it definitely falls into the category of "Epic".

Mike? Real quick: To be clear, you want this 'epic music' thread to differentiate itself from the 'epic tunes' thread by posting classical style music or what? I'm honestly confused why you made this one:unsure:

Pretty much "what gets you going". Think what you put on when you're about to charge into 52 Corsairs.

Yeah, Charlie Clouser has that effect on me:crazy:

However, if I were going after 53 'sairs instead, I'd have to go with Slayer- Aggressive Perfector
